Regardless of his current status, back in the day The Cosby Show had no equal in ratings and critics praise.

 

They were good but they were not in the class of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air!

I looked and my kingdom and we were finally there, to sit on my throne as the prince of Bel air.

Fresh Prince of Bel Air was an objectively great sitcom. Nothing biased about it. All of the characters were memorable and the writing was excellent. It's the most re watchable sitcom in history.

I'm a big fan of Seinfeld too, btw, but even that doesn't compare with Fresh Prince.

Cosby show was good back in the day, no doubt, but Fresh Prince was a better show.

 

Nostalgia is the only factor when discussing favorite comedies though, surely?

No, I think you know the real reason why Sly rates The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air so much over other, funnier, smarter, more memorable, more popular, and more award-winning comedies......and I can assure you it´s not nostalgia.

 

Seinfeld is my second favourite. I rate it over Jeffersons and Cosby Show, so if you're implying race...you're way off.

Firstly some of the humour in it isn't kid friendly...but secondly...who cares if it is for kids? If it's a good show it's a good show...whether it caters for a less hardcore audience doesn't change that.

Cosby show was for kids too but more people agree that it was excellent.

As for Seinfeld, I genuinely liked it. The show cracked me up.

I can re-watch Fresh Prince and still laugh here and there. But definitely not to the same degree as when I was younger. SOME of the material is still funny and relevant... while a lot of it is now dated, and cheesy.

But shows like Married With Children, Martin, All in The Family, S&S, still remains fresh and hilarious to this day. Ya know why? Because those aren't KIDS sitcoms!

I'll give it this much... it's aged a lot better than Family Matters.
