    I agree but your quote:
There are enough people in both camps who will take it seriously not to mention the media.
PPV will break the all-time record.
The bookies will have a field day.

    On those bases, it's genius.

    Different era, different audience.

People like Mayweather and McGregor have the attitude and outlook and personality that target and tap into today's 'urban' audience....social media like Twitter and Facebook are paramount.

This is why majority hardcore boxing fans, old school boxing promoters like Arum, Warren, Hearn, etc don't 'get' Mixed Martial Arts and the UFC...especially how their shows are run and organized.

    Different strokes for different folks...

So you're saying this new breed of fan is easily fooled? Unlike the old school ones?

That pretty much seems to be the gist of it, even if he doesn't want to admit it

Old school fans can be fooled too, I mean 30 million people watched George Foreman make a fool of himself fighting five guys in Toronto

Just a casual 10 minute browse on social media is enough to confirm this.
People's attention-spans are far, far smaller than even 20 years ago, let alone 40 years ago.
They want and demand instant but forgettable 'gratification'.

As for easily-fooled....ultimate case-in-point: United States of America voting-in Donald Trump as President.

Not this guy. I didn't even watch Canelo-Chavez Jr. No interest in watching business deals advertised as fights.

Utter joke of a fight. I have absolutely no interest in watching it but might catch a bit of the build up. Could be funny.

Canelo - Chavez Jr was hardly worth watching anyway...even before the bell went.
And it wasn't a fascinating freakshow.

    This is.

The reason i posted that is because I said before it happened I refused to watch a business deal. There's been plenty of fights I've had little interest in but because I was home at the time, found a stream and decided that was better than watching something else. Won't be the case for this just like Canelo-Chavez.

You can call it a "protest" if you like but I don't want to spend any time let alone money on such a transparent sham. I hope the same thing happens to the arena that happened to that building in London today.
