1 and 3 were GREAT Fights...Not Sooooo Sure About 2, However...

Fan Man Obviously Made it MEMORABLE, but it was the LEAST Action Oriented Fight of the Bowe-Holyfield Trilogy, in REED's Opinion...

Saad's the very first that came to mind.

  15. I think some of you guys missed the memo:

    LIST THE DAMNED FIGHTS!!!

  16. Ugotabe Kidding

The first guy I thought of was Arguello. Pryor, Oliveras, Mancini and two or three more.

It seems to me that good/great fighters with average defense end up in more great fights than others

Are we talking great fighters? Because I'm seeing names like Gatti being thrown around. If not, Danny Williams tops the list.

I dunno if I'd call them "great" fights, but Farmer Froch was involved in three very good fights: Pascal, Taylor, and the first Kessler fight.

  19. Jesus of montreal

Leonard Hagler was far from a great fight, and neither was Ali-Foreman

The first Groves fight was also scorcher

I agree Leonard-Hagler wasn't great. But given the consistent drama of Ali-Foreman culminated by arguably the most dramatic ending in boxing history, it could be considered a great fight.

  22. Hmmm....I found Leonard Hagler to be great. It didn't have a war, with either guy in danger of being stopped or anything...but it was a classic clash of styles, every round was action packed and fortunes shifted back and forth round after round. it was also fought at a very high level. Great IMO. Nevertheless I can except the position that it wasn't classically "great".

Ali Foreman was great though. Rope a dope...Foreman exploding on him and Ali coming to life with flurries off the ropes. Great action round after round. Knockout finish was beautiful.

"And Ali with a sneaky right hand. Another sneaky right hand! Now he works over the shoulder of Foreman and delivers combinations!!!!!" Good shit.

We shoulda mentioned Corrales by now. Involved in the best fight ever, and a few really good fights - Frietas, Casamayor 1, Roberto Garcia, ect.

  24. Yup, Corrales was a bad boy. Obviously the first Castillo fight...but I like the way he walked through Frietas' firepower and forced him to quit with the pressure.

Vargas was involved in a couple great fights: re Tito and Oscar...but I can't think of a third.

  25. Jeffy

    Jeffy Undisputed Champion

    Opinions are like assholes....

It's hard to find three legitimately GREAT fights. Tito-Vargas was without question a great fight. DLH-Vargas wasn't a great fight, but it was a good one. Vargas-Quartey was a good fight also, as was Wright-Vargas.

Lets be real, the oscar trinidad fight was in no way a great fight.
