Perhaps not but Valuev should never have had that title to begin with.

And? Just because he got the title in a bogus way, it doesnt mean that he wasn't a top fighter at the time.

Whyte was Joshua's 15th Pro Fight, Whyte was 16-0 w/13KO's and had Not Only Beaten, but FLOORED Joshua as an Ammy...

If You're Trying to PROTECT Your Charismatic, Highly Marketable, Olympic Gold Medalist, You DON'T Put him in w/a 16-0, 13KO's Guy that Dropped and BEAT Him Previously...Not Early in his Career, You Don't...

To Say it was "Far From a Big Risk" ISN'T Looking @ the Entire Picture...And In Hindsight, Whyte Revealed the ONLY chank we've Seen in Joshua's Armor, To Date, AND he Lasted Loooooooooooooooooonger than Any of Joshua's Other Opponents...

Of Course it was a Risk, a TEST or However You Wish to Word It...

It was a risk, but a very calculated one. Whyte was considered garbage by pretty much everyone prior to the AJ fight, and he showed that he's barely above that level since then (needing favorable judges to get pass old fat Chisora). And the worthless ammie match was perfect to give the illusion of a much bigger threat than he was

This is not the kind of matchmaking that makes me say that a guy is not protected.

That Particular Opponent, @ That Particular Time (Given Their HISTORY) Is NOT Someone You Select if You're PROTECTING Your Fighter...Sorry...

You Keep Saying the Ammy Fight was Worthless, Yet Whyte Dropped Joshua on his Ass THEN, and has Come Closer than Anyone Else to Doing Likewise as a Pro...

Out with the old, in with the new. Joshua is not losing this one. Wlad's old and vulnerable. AJ's going to finish him. He's young, fearless and wants to put hurt on his opponents. Wlad's has his moment in the sun but now it's time to pack his bags and go home and settle down. I bet he makes a cracking cup of tea.

That's Because You Specialize in NOT Being Impressed:lol:...

Look, REED Ain't Trying to Portray Whyte as a Career Defining Win or Anything Close, but @ the TIME of that Fight, Given Their History, Hearn CERTAINLY Could've Found a SAFER Opponent, Considering the Momentum and Fanbase Joshua had Built By Then...

AJ is still developing. When a fighter is at that point it's not just the QUALITY of the opponent you have to keep in mind but the mental state of the young fighter. Is he ready to handle this? The fight with Whyte, given his history with AJ was a mental hurdle he had to overcome. He lost to him as a kid, was rocked by him in the early going, survived it and went on to take care of business. Since then he's shown more patience and finesse in his approach.

I would say that fight, given the emotion and BIG STAGE feel that it had, PREPARED Joshua for this Saturday. And that's why I'm expecting him to shine come Saturday.

disagreed big time. Maybe decades of Quebec matchmaking made me blase, but AJ fighting Whyte is exactly the kind of bullshit matchmaking that I would expect Yvon Michel to make (average prospect who holds a meaningless ammi win over the top prospect a million years ago). Look, I'm not saying that AJ is protected and pampered, but at this point, he only took calculated risk (and to be honest, that's what he should be doing at this point of his career)

As much as I hate wlad pussy and like to denigrate him at every occasions, I must say that if he manage to win this fight, it would be a huge accomplishement for him, and establish him as a great. Even if AJ turns out afterward to be a dud

Joshua is a big boy. If all that size and power has chin and stamina too...he may be indestructible.

It'll be interesting to see if Wlad throws caution to the wind and decides that it's time to "go big or go home". I think that should be his mindset coming into this one because he's not going to beat Joshua with a slow grabbing mugging spoiling fight. he has to come in there and make it a war and hope to catch Joshua with a short inside left hook...which he throws well...and which Joshua may be susceptible too.

3rd time in history that a fight is being broadcast on HBO and Showtime
(Lewis-Tyson and Mayweather-Pacquiao being the others)

    1 million PPVs expected...

As you age, cutting weight is more likely to weaken you....Ali-Holmes and Jones-Tarver.

"Cutting Weight" and coming down 8 or 9 pounds over a 18 month period.........whilst not getting thyroid shots to burn body fat the week of the fight.....and having totally nothing left as Ali did, being in the early stages of Parkinsons.....are like.......different things.

Jones came from 200 to 175 with no warm-up or interval period.

    These are not comparable scenarios.

Dominic Ingle one of the first Britishers to write any sort of objective sense about the fight.

He alludes to how Fury switched stance throughout their fight, etc.

Also......who is the referee for this :dunno:
