    I was wrong.

It looks like the Dubs just have too much firepower for the Cavs this year. At this point, looks to me like they're on their way to winning in 5.

If they blow THIS one... they should go down as the worst choking franchise of all time.

    REED... this game is over...

Cavs are now in a MUST win situation in game 3, as no team has ever rebounded from an 0-3 hole.

If they can win both games in Cleveland, the series is back alive.

It's gonna be tough to beat this golden state team 4 out of 5 games

Irving has been pretty disappointing throughout the entire 2017 playoffs save for a few games, moreso than last year.

he was making a lot of difficult shots in game 1. he'd need to have 4 games like he did in last years finals game 5. cleveland would also need love to play great so that james doesnt have to expend as much energy in the first half as he has done these two games. basically they'd need to play perfect to have a chance to beat this team.

Agreed. LeBron from about the 2008-09 season on has been better than Kobe at his best.

No knock on Kobe, who's a great player too, but LeBron is just better and has more overall impact on the game.

I disagree with this big time. This isn't the same team that Mark Jackson had, they're better in every way. The biggest difference in Kerr and Jackson is Kerr brought in other coaches like Gentry and allowed them buy in and allowed them to coach. Jackson always came off as a guy who was too threatened to take another's advice or assistance. Also Kerr is the reason his team went from last in passing to top ten in that regard and he also upped their pace which increased their fast break points.

The pace thing Kerr got from Gentry but overall the Warriors style of play came from Kerr and there are a lot of other improvements you can point to that shows how much better a coach Steve Kerr has been over. Jackson was more of a motivator than an actual x's & o's kind of coach. I remember his timeouts he'd always be doing some type of speech on effort and heart but never drawing up plays or getting into any kind of strategy.

It may appear Kerr's coaching is overrated because guys like Walton and Brown can just come in and the team keeps on winning but that right there is a direct reflection of Steve Kerr's success with the team. Kerr has already turned the team into such a finely tuned machine that everyone already knows what they're doing because the system and style has been put into place. I do agree Golden State was good under Jackson, it took Steve Kerr to make them great and the difference hasn't been close at all. Many of those guys have said playing for Kerr has made the game easier and more fun for them and honestly I think your take is way off base here.

My confusion is, if the team can just do that out right what was the point of the amnesty clause? I'm thinking that the difference is the amnesty clause allowed the players contract to come off the team's cap whereas if they waive a player his contract stays on the teams cap. Is that right? Also I never understood why some players accept buyouts. For instance Anthony Bennett accepting a buyout from the Nets because they didn't want him anymore. Why take a buyout for less of your guaranteed money when you don't have too? Especially when there are no other teams interested in you.

I don't see the Cavs winning one game much less two. To be honest this shit hasn't even been competitive. At times the score has been close but even at the beginning of games you think the Cavs are playing better and they may be no more than a couple points ahead. Meanwhile there was never any point in this game where I thought Cleveland could turn the tide. Even Lebron knew it was over early in the fourth and started cruising and honestly I couldn't blame him. He may as well save his energy for the next game.

Problem for Cleveland is JR Smith is not only playing bad but isn't actively engaging offensively. Irving has a terrible style not conducive to team basketball as all he wants to do is play one on one which he isn't doing very well so far. Tristan isn't giving them much and I actually thought Frye was playing better than him. Shumpert's playing pretty good, but doesn't put many points on the board. Deron Williams isn't doing much although he isn't given much time to do anything and Jefferson is aggressive and confident but mostly in over his head at this point in his career.

yea strictly for cap purposes. maybe bennetts buyout only saved the team a small amount, or maybe he was confident he'd catch on elsewhere with a team he'd play minutes and prove himself. i dont really understand it either. id want all my guaranteed money but if you can actually play its worthwhile as you can catch on elsewhere with a team that wants you and make more. bennett cant play so he shouldve soaked up every last bit of his rookie deal

Fuck Mark Jackson. I loved when Bird abused him for doing that dumbass 'Jackson jiggle' while the Pacers were losing. One of the most punchable faces in sports.

By the way this series is far from over. Most of you forget that last year the warriors started out in dominant fashion too and some people here were even going so far as to say that the raptors would have performed better against Golden State than the Cavs were. No sooner was that said the Cavs started to kick ass and won.

Unfortunately, phonetap doesn't see how the cavs can win this series. If KD scores enough to cancel out Lebron and Steph continues to outplay Kyrie (as brother REED pointed out, FIRST time ever) this series will be over quick.

I would like the Warriors to sweep. It would justify having such a stacked team. They are basketball's version of soccer's Barcelona.

Nope, series IS over. Steph isn't injured this time and is playing at a high level unlike his last three finals, and Durant is out playing everyone, including Lebron. I believe once Golden State gets their next win, instead of the Cavs focusing and pushing back like last year I think they're going to fold.

Cavs lost the first 2 games of the finals last year, but they were definitely more IN the games than this time around. And ABOVE all... their defense was A LOT better last year, even in the games they lost.

They look totally outgunned this time, and their defense is horrendous.

If Lebron can pull THIS ON OFF... I'll give him 1b all time to Jordan's 1a.

The 16 Warriors were the best regular season team of all time. The 01 Lakers were the best playoff team of all time. The 96 Bulls were the best, overall.

We'll see how this series plays out. But I do know that the 01 Lakers faced much TOUGHER competition when they swept through the West.

That would have been an interesting series. As stacked as GS is this year, they would have had NOOOOOOOOO answers for prime Shaq.

Good luck having that overrated bum Draymond attempting to guard a prime Shaq.

Hopefully he can't (but if he does...he's a bad man indeed). I want Warriors to dominate so that Lebron really has something to cry about this time.

Van gundy made an interesting point during game 1 regarding post play

The league doesn't want teams to run offense through the post anymore, and you can tell by how they officiate the game. You can play extremely physical defense on guys in the post but can barely touch a perimeter player

Yeah, I don't get it. A guy shooting a 3 doesn't even have to get touched (just kick out his leg a little bit, or jump into the guy defending him), or like what happened with Curry last night, they can take a foul at half court, take two full steps after they hear the whistle, launch up a prayer and they call it some "continuation" bullshit.

I'm a little guy myself, and I like small ball as long as it's done honestly.............but a big dominant man in the post used to be a beauty to watch. Kareem was one of the most aesthetically pleasing players to ever play the game. On the flip side, watching a big guy DEFEND the post was just as fun. Seeing Hakeem, Mutombo, Manute Bol (who would never even see the floor in today's NBA) or even Mark Eaton swat balls away at will was fucking great.

They are pretty much legislating these guys out of the game..........or at least forcing them to play on the perimeter much more or perfect their own 3 point shots.

It's like the NBA wants to create this illusion that even a little white guy like me, might be able to play in the league someday.............if only I can get down my 3 point shot and foul shooting skills.

By 2017 rules, the Warriors likely win. by 2001 rules, the Lakers probably stomp out the Warriors.
