OFFICIAL DISCUSSION: Floyd Mayweather Vs. Conor McGregor |August 26 2017

Discussion in 'General Boxing Discussion' started by Rich ´Money´ Mustard, Jan 13, 2017.

  1. Is this fight really happening now? It's a circus act. In the boxing ring Floyd would win easily and in the MMA ring Conor wins easily.

Only chance of Floyd losing in the boxing ring is if he takes conor too lightly...even then he should win.

    It's officially signed.

Couldnt agree more. The NSAC is now officially a joke. Also, PBF was so detrimental to the sport of boxing, that losing to Mcgregor and completely destroying boxing credibility would be a fitting end to his career

Floyd must need the money. Would not be surprised if he needed it to keep up with his lavish lifestyle...

No Doubt, Mayweather's IMPACT on the Sport has Been Primarily NEGATIVE...

You're Either HELPING or HURTING the Game, and Mayweather's Done MUCH More Harm, Unquestionably...w/Out Rehashing the Damage he's Done, Floyd's Actually IN a Position to HELP the Sport, for a Change...

Not Only Can Floyd NOT Lose this Fight, he Needs to FINISH McGregor...Clean KO, Corner Stoppage, Ref Stoppage, WHATEVER...Floyd CANNOT Allow a Debuting MMAist to Go 12 Full Rounds w/Him or it'll Be Yet ANOTHER "Black Eye on Boxing", Under Floyd's Watch...

Way bigger difference than 800m vs 5000m run. Its like putting a tennis champion vs ping pong champion

  8. Nah. They're totally different sports altogether and hence are never mentioned in the same breath let alone have crossover appeal of fans or professional crossover attempts.

you guys are delusional. this isnt the same mayweather jr from the mid 2000s who was blowing money like a moron. he still lives an extravagant lifestyle but Im told has made some wise investments with some of his money.

its a free money grab for him. why wouldnt he do that

  10. Anthony

    Anthony Admin Staff Member

told from who? And where are these investments? He is spending shit loads of money every chance he gets.

  11. I'm not asking this as a Mayweather fan because I'm a fan of his ability notof him personally....but how has he harmed the sport? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't mayweather one of the most famous athletes on the world? Isn't that good for boxing? More people watch mayweather fights than any other boxer since prime Tyson. How has he hurt the sport?

  12. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

the guy has made TWO paydays that exceeded 9 figures. with another one looming. what exactly is he spending all this money on that would break him?

  13. Anthony

    Anthony Admin Staff Member

He probably owns over 100 cars for himself. Planes, yachts, Diamonds, Clothes, Shoes watches, homes, vacations, etc. And doesnt include what he is spending on other people. Nobody risks their legacy like this unless money is an issue.

  14. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

    :D@ risks their legacy

is this serious? he is fighting a fucking novice for a 9 figure payday

1st of All, REED Would Say Floyd's More INFAMOUS than Famous and Not Sure How "Big" his Name Is OUTSIDE of the United States...

If You Go to Africa, Australia or Asia, REED Ain't Sure How INSTANTLY Floyd is Recognized...

Yes, More People have Watched his Fights than Any Other Since a Prime Tyson, but what EXACTLY has Floyd Done w/that Captive Audience???...Consistently OVER Promised and UNDER Delivered, That's What...

"Like I Said Before, I'm Doing this for the Fans, and I'm Going for the Knockout"...

Until Fight Night, That Is, Where Floyd is MINIMALLY Combative, Hardly INITIATES Any Exchanges and is Repeatedly Content to Do JUST Enough to Win...This Has Been the Formula for MOST of his Post-Hatton Bouts, his MOST Watched Bouts, No Less...

And of Course, ALLOWING THE Biggest Fight of His Era to Exceed its Shelf Life and Become Watered Down by his Demands, Before Finally Following Thru w/It...

REED Can't See How There Could Be Much Debate about Floyd Mayweather Having a NEGATIVE Impact on the Sport of Boxing...He's FLEECED the Public Repeatedly and Will Probably COAST to Yet Another Mundane 12 Round Decision vs. McGregor...

Funny Thing is, if Floyd Actually GAVE a Fuck about the Sport that's Made him "Almost a Billion", he'd Wipe his Ass w/McGregor...Instead, he'll COAST, "Like REED Said Before", McGregor and MMA Lovers Will Accuse Floyd of RUNNING and it'll Be Yet Another "Black Eye for Boxing", on Floyd Mayweather's Watch...

If Mayweather-McGregor Plays Out like his Bouts w/Pacquiao, Marquez, Guerrero or Maidana II, that Certainly WON'T Be Good for Floyd's Legacy...

Can't Let a "Fucking Novice" Last 12 Full Rounds...

    REED:cool:

  19. Nah bro, floyd is famous world wide. He's no Tyson or Ali but he's well known even outside of the US. His fights are a bore, relative to the hype, but people still pay big bucks to watch him anyway. How is that a black eye? He's brining in more casual fans. Isn't that what we want as boxing fans? Ali was infamous too before coming famous and Tyson was infamous after becoming famous. Infamy doesn't hurt bro. People pay for infamy.

Of course people are disappointed with the fights....Pacquiao fight especially, but Floyd is still the name that draws the masses to watch a fight.

I'm no fan of Floyd personally ( seriously) but I have got to give the motherffucker his due when it comes to generating interest in the sport.

  20. Neil

    Neil tueur de grenouilles

How does it affect his legacy? He's 40 fucking years old and has been a part time fighter for a decade. By risks his legacy I assume anthony means he could lose the fight

So You're Telling REED Floyd Mayweather Could Walk Down ANY Busy Street in Africa, Australia or Asia and Be Recognized INSTANTLY???...

To Be Clear, Floyd SHAT on his Appeal in the Pacquiao Fight, Only Generating Half a Million Buys for Berto, Which Followed...His NORM Had Been Right @ or OVER a Mil, Prior to the EPIC Disappointment of the Pacquiao Bout...

This Upcoming Bout will ONLY Sell Because of the Circus Like Nature of It...It's as Big of a Feather in Floyd's Cap as his "Match" w/Big Show was, @ WrestleMania...

To REED, Generating that Audience is HALF the Battle...What Are Doing WITH that Captive Audience Though???...Latter Day Floyd has Consistently Done DICK w/It, Which is Why REED Says his Impact on the Sport is NEGATIVE...

Fans Walking Away Feeling like they DIDN'T Get their Money's Worth ISN'T a Good Thing, Bruh...And that Happens a LOT w/Floyd Fights, Unfortunately...

Again, It'll Look BAD on Boxing and the Boxer in Particular, if Dude, Who Calls Himself "T.B.E.", Can't FINISH a Complete "Fucking NOVICE" like Conor McGregor in Less than 12 Rounds...

My hope is that this is all a trick... and when McGregor steps in the ring, instead of Floyd on the other side of the ring, it's Spence.

Exactly. PBF is pretty much only a mainstream star because of TMZ, Facebook and Twitters. Causual who turned to see him dance around for 12 rounds never became boxing fans, cause they were bored out of their mind. The guy milked the system pure and simple.

As for Mcgregor going 12 with PBF. No way. Guy will be completely gassed by the 4th round max, and it will be target pratcide for PBF.

  25. REEDsART

    REEDsART MATCHMAKER

REED Hopes You're Correct, But Genuinely LACKS Faith in Floyd to Go for the Kill, Even w/a Fatigued Novice in Front of Him...

McGregor was gassed againt diaz after one (5 minutes) round of what was basically a boxing fight. PBF will get a KO despite him, if he decide to not willingly carry the irishman (I think there is a strong possibility that this is a fixed fight)

  27. REEDsART

    REEDsART MATCHMAKER

While True, McGregor Treated Diaz Like a PUNCHING BAG That Round...

Showed NO Respect for the Incoming, @ All (Based on Diaz's LACK of Hand/Foot Speed), Dominated the Round, yet Couldn't HURT Diaz Enough to Compromise Him...

While Aggression is McGregor's ONLY Chance, he WON'T Be Nearly as Dismissive of Floyd's Incoming as he was Diaz's, in their 1st Bout...Otherwise, McGregor WON'T Even Reach the Point of Being Gassed...

Floyd could easily knock him out in one round. McGregor won't see any shots coming, his chin ain't that good and he'll learn all about elite boxing handspeed and reflexes.

I reckon Floyd might carry him for a few rounds, probably part of the deal. Conor could go for a DQ outcome too.

I think you're underestimating how much stress and missing with your punches take a toll on your stamina.
