There was a Low Blow or So in the FINISHING Salvo, but None of the 1's Prior Were, in REED's Opinion...None of the 1's Kovalev Initially Complained or Doubled Over from Were... They were Square ON the Belt Line, Which is Legal... REED Try SCROLLING, Dude... Peep REED's Response to CDogg's Post... REED
Ward's defense is really his biggest strength. Kovalev just couldn't land his mega shots. Couldn't even pull the trigger on them most of the time.
Yeah. As much as people want this to be an amazing victory for ward, the fact is, this was a corrupt and illegitimate outcome.
Really sad for Kovy. The guy is all macho and goes to fight wherever big fights are proposed, and he got screwed twice. Boxing is a farce
I think Kovalev hits harder than Stevenson, but it's easy to believe otherwise and it's easy enough that I'm wrong. The way he punches is a lot different, though, and I'd sure like to see Ward deal with that.
The KILL Shots Were, but Kovalev Reacted 2-3 Times Throughout to Bodyshots PRIOR, that were Directly ON the Belt Line... The Bodyshot Preceding the Right Hand that Wobbled Kovalev was ALSO Clean... To Be CLEAR, Andre Ward Hit and HURT Kovalev to the Body w/CLEAN Shots, Which is Conveniently Being Overlooked, Not by YOU, Necessarily, but Certainly by Other Posters... The Stoppage was PREMATURE and Kovalev SHOULD Have Been Given a Count (@ the Very Least), if Not Time to RECOVER from the Low Shots that Caused Him to Sit on the Bottom Rope... But Let's NOT Diminish the FACT Andre Ward HIT and HURT Sergey Kovalev w/LEGIT Bodyshots... REED
What a strange position to take. Your position is we should stop obsessing over the fact he won the fight with low blows because wow, 30 seconds earlier, look at those great shots he landed? Strange.
I'm not saying it is. In fact, I don't think it will happens. But it would be the only psitive in Kovy getting screwed twice if it does
For me, whether or not it was a low blow is immaterial. The ref cannot always tell what's low from what is not in the heat of the action and he doesn't have the benefit of replay as we do. However Kov was sitting down on the ropes...that's a knockdown, give the notherfucker a chance to come back. This is a big fight and he was leading or at the very least was even. In a fight of this magnitude you have to give these guys the chance to come back
The body shot that matters, in some way, is the one that Kovalev said was low, acted hurt, wanted time, Weeks said fight, and Ward landed the bomb right on the chin shortly after. Was that one low or not?
Kovalev was fucked anyways but yeah he got stopped on low blows. You simply can't allow that as a ref.
Just caught the replay of the end of the fight... I'd say premature, but I don't know if there was a standing 8 count or not. If not, then Weeks wasn't necessarily wrong to stop it. Second, the very last shot seemed to be low. Ward didn't aim low but the way Kov bent over it strayed low. He was badly hurt to the head and to the body. That first bodyshot was right on the belt line which is a legal blow as you said. Kov was hurt to the body and the head. Could he have recovered? Perhaps. This just gives him a way to whine about having the fight stolen again.
How can you say it is immaterial? If they'd been legal it would just be one more in a long line of premature stoppages. But the fact they were low blows makes it an even bigger screw.
