Larry would be committing murder on the league today, with the current three point craze going on. Bird was capable of hitting threes that would make even Curry scratch his head.

I love the footage of Dr J throwing hands with Bird. Bird was telling him where he was going to shoot from and then hitting it in Js face.

Gotta admit, I'd wanna belt the guy too.

I think you're overrating Hayward. He won't be Boston's savior anymore than Horford was. Also Hayward won't even get close to the level and consistency of Bird. The closest guy to Bird was probably Dirk and even then we're only talking about scoring. Bird did so much more for his team on the court.

I think Hayward is a third banana at best. He's a very good spot up shooter but if you think he's a go to scorer that breaks down defenses when you really need a shot, think again. So I don't think he's better than Butler in that regard and maybe not even better than Derozan.

Don't know if Hayward was planning on going to the Celtics from the start but if his agent was smart he would have pushed the idea on him. With Butler and George moving to the west Hayward going to either the Celts or Heat was the most logical move because now that Hayward is in the east getting on the Allstar team is a possibility for him.

NEVER said Hayward is a go-to scorer
NEVER said that Hayward is a go-to scorer at all. I simply agreed with Neil that his offensive game is smoother than Butler's.

But would I rather have Hayward than DeRozan? Yes. DeRozan's a total fraud. He's always decent in the regular season, but he gets completely exposed in the playoffs every year and shits the bed.

Haywards a nice player but I read that the Celts are going to have to cut loose a lot of their depth to be able to afford to bring him in. It's one thing if you're getting a Durant type and you have to do that, but I'm not sure a Hayward is going to put you over the top.

Still, it gives them a really nice looking starting lineup.

Bird comparisons are unfair. If you want to compare him to some other 80s-90s white guy, then Detlef Schrempf is probably a lot closer to the truth of what he is.

Hayward Never Played in Any PRESSURE Playoff Situations, but he Acquitted Himself QUITE Well in the Clipper Series...

He Can Catch and Shoot, Take it to the Hole OR Score Off Pull Up Jumpers...He's Athletic Too...

He's a GREAT Offensive Compliment to I.T...You Can Do a Whole LOT Worse, Offensively, than Gordon Hayward...

Avery Bradley, Jae Crowder and Marcus Smart are the Likely Casualties, but they Comprise the TOUGH, DEFENSIVE Aspect of the Celtics...

From what I can recollect about Schrempf, he was a pretty good defender, which Hayward is not.

But yeah, Hayward isn't even Chris Mullin good LET ALONE the second best Small Forward that ever lived.

The Celtics success is also contingent upon IT having another season like this one, and I don't think that's a given.

It's not unheard of for a GOOD player to have one season where they play like a superstar, then come back to Earth.

Thomas isn't a perennial superstar, and it's very possible he'll come back to Earth next year.

Yeah, I definitely think both will average better than 20 a game. C'monn bro, this is the no defense, free flowing offense era... EVERYBODY is averaging over 20 nowadays.

At the end of the day, adding Hayward doesn't threaten the Cavs.

    Lebron will molest poor Gordon.

Warriors got Young and Omir Casspri, 2 guys I would have loved to get on OKC. In fact I was hoping we'd trade for Casspri last season when word was out he couldn't get on the floor in Sacramento. It's just like I predicted a few pages back, that GState won't have any trouble getting guys to take pay cuts to play there since they're pretty much guaranteed a championship.

Speaking of OKC they just reupped Roberson at 30 mil for 3 years. He didn't get the kind of interest from other teams he was expecting, so hopefully that'll make him get his butt in the gym and try to learn to shoot.

Damn, just days after Steph signs the biggest contract in NBA history, he finds out he has to play back-up to Swaggy P.

Celts trade Avery Bradley to the Pistons for Marcus Morris. Dumb fucking move IMO, even if he only had one year left on his contract. They had the pieces to contend now, and Bradley makes up for a lot of Isaiah's "short"comings.

I think Washington would be wise not to match Brooklyn's 100 million offer sheet on Otto Porter. He had a great season and fulfills a need but that contract could be crippling over the next couple seasons, especially if it was a fluke season by Porter.

Porter a nice young player who has gotten better every year in the league. If he keeps improving that contract will seem like a bargain pretty soon......especially in comparison to all the stupid money that has been thrown around lately, just so teams who are looking to tank can fulfill their salary obligations.

Yeah, about all that stupid money that has been thrown around. Apparently it's come back to hurt most teams. All that crap about how some of those big pay days will look like a bargain in a few years was overblown and actually hurt those teams as the cap has normalized.

So unless Washington thinks Porter has the possibility of making a Kawi Leonard type of improvement in his future (which I seriously doubt) I think that is way too much money to pay for a guy whose sole value is three point shooting, regardless of how good he is at it.

I don't care what the players are making. If the league is paying them that, they can obviously afford it. The issue is when teams pay the wrong players stupid money just so they can destroy their cap and make it easier for them to tank.

Hardaway Jr. making $70 mill from the Knicks when the highest anybody else would have paid him would have been $45 mill................and let's face it, Hardaway is not going to be the guy to put the Knicks over the top.

Porter also rebounds a bit and grabs some steals. His Effective FG% was 6th in the league, and every guy in front of him was a center.

At $100 Mill in todays NBA, he doesn't have to be Kawhi Leonard. He just has to be better then Tim Hardaway Jr..
