Richard Pryor had no business being in a Superman movie. The producers, writers and director blew it big time in this sequel.

The Warriors is definitely highly dated.

I just can't take Sully seriously as a thug. I just always envision Arnold dropping him off that cliff.

They Should have Kept Richard Pryor OUT of the Mix Altogether OR Allowed Him to BE Richard Pryor...

Again, he Could Have Written Some BRILLIANT Material for "Bad" Superman...

They couldn't allow him to be Richard Pryor because these were PG movies.

Rich's brand of comedy was too edgy and R-rated to be part of ANY superhero movie, tbh.

The Christopher Reeve franchise was meant be family/kid friendly.

Richard Pryor's comedic genius was not kid friendly.

REED Gets That, but they were ALREADY Taking a Risk by Turning Superman "Bad", if Only Briefly...

The Leaning Tower of Pisa Scene was just the Tip of the Ice Berg..."Bad" Superman Could've PRECEDED "Hancock" in that Same Way, Under Pryor's Vision...

Why Include Richard Pryor @ All if You DON'T Want Him to Be Himself???...It's Like Casting Amber Rose Just to Do a VOICE OVER, or Filming Her from the Neck UP, Exclusively...

    Makes NO Sense...

And What Resulted was a CORNY Ass Superman Flick, That's Now Part of a "Dated/Unintentionally Funny" Thread, as Opposed to Something TRULY Groundbreaking, Which it Could have Been...

Dunno for sure, but I do know Pryor actually WANTED the role, and might have reached out and asked for it. Being that he was a big name at the time, they weren't gonna turn him down.

Hancock was a TERRIBLE movie, btw. Nothing groundbreaking about that piece of shit movie. The idea behind it had potential, but the movie was simply shit. I'd watch Superman III over Hancock anyday.

Superman III was NOT supposed to be a freaking comedy for crying out loud. This was the first non-Richard Donner film and it shows how clueless everybody was about what made the first two films work.

watched original, 1968 Planet of the Apes recently. makes you think, if someone produced a movie with that script and acting now, we'd think it was some weird ironic satire/spoof. some aspects appear ridiculously clumsy by today's standards - why would they have funded a space mission manned by the cruel, depressive charlton heston character, and
another guy who doesn't even want to be there? - and some aspects too high-brow to get included in today's movies - e.g. the theoretical discussions about science, religion, and social progress with Dr Zaius

Different times, plus yes, the film was sort of a satire in some regards plus Rod Serling screenplay was head above shoulders better than its original source, the ridiculous Pierre Boule novel.

It was pretty entertaining and had a good soundtrack. It went from this outrageous comedy with them measuring dicks in the locker room to all serious and sad at the ending. It's kind of a forgotten teen sex comedy from that era. Everyone remembers Fast Times and Porky's but not this.

I saw it as a kid and watched it recently a few years ago and realized how creepy Gary is. He's also sort of a dick to everyone except Karen, his obsession.

He's also dead drunk at a party, so the fat guy walks him to his car and tells him to drive home. Great friend.

He proceeds to go home and sexually harass his mother's friends.

REED First Saw it as a Pre-Teen...Haven't Seen it in Probably 30 Years Though...

The REED Household had Just Gotten Cable TV, the Movie Came On a LOT Back Then, Late @ Night, and Because it had Sex and Nudity, REED Watched it Whenever it was On...

The Soundtrack was BANGING for Sure; Full of 80's Classics...

If it Makes You Feel Better, the Actor that Played Gary, Lawrence Monoson, was Also in a "Friday the 13th" Flick, Where he was Murdered...
