He was a boxer. He ko'ed some half decent journeymen including peter mccneel. Conor hasn't even shown he'd be comfortable fighting in shoes. Point is when you are high level boxer no matter how old you get your skillet is still light years ahead of someone who is a complete novice.

If Floyd does as promised and doesn't box safety first but rather comes at him like a bull in a China shop and beats him down and knocks him out in 3 rounds....would y'all, his haters, have a more favourable opinion of him?

 

I don't hate Floyd, as a boxer anyway, but I hate this fight and there's literally nothing he could do which would change my opinion on that.

 

I think it would help increase Floyd's popularity to some degree. But McGregor isn't actually a boxer. I think Floyd would be more conservative and break McGregor down and try to score a stoppage somewhere in the 9th to 12th rounds.

 

I take most of what Floyd says with a truckload of salt, but for once I think he's genuine when he says he's gonna come out to put some hurt on McGregor and knock him out early. He knows what's in front of him which is why he's having to sell McGregor as a worthwhile opponent.

 

This is 100% true. A professional boxer is conditioned to throw and defend after many many hours, days, weeks, years of regular repetition. It becomes instinctive. Conor McGregor is more of a jack of all trades and his left hand seems to exploit the level of boxers/strikers in the UFC. I'd consider Alvarez and Nate Diaz and Aldo to be somewhere in the C to D level in terms of boxing skills as compared to professional level boxers.

 

I don't see it that way at all. I was on StubHub and also reading reports regarding ticket sales. I believe there is panic within the camps that there are thousands of unsold tickets and Floyd is now doing anything possible to sell this fight. Last week he talked about his physical disadvantages, age and rust and selling himself short. He was adamant that this fight would be a hot seller but he didn't realize that most of the boxing audience don't seem to give much of a hoot about Conor Mcgregor and his 0-0 boxing record. Regardless of the popularity and turnout of the press tours, nobody paid for tickets to attend those press tours. Those were all free to attend. Floyd has overpriced the tickets for this event. It seems McGregor may not bring as big an audience for this fight as Mayweather was hoping. The MMA fans never paid even 1/10 for tickets to attend McGregor's fights. This is a whole other level of a cash grab and many people aren't falling sucker, especially after the atrocious Mayweather/Pacquiao fight 2 years back. People may be wiser now.

I would normally agree that Floyd is just saying shit to sell the fight but he will get a ridiculous amount of shit if he plays it safe against a guy with an 0-0 record in boxing. We will see I guess, but I genuinely think he's going to be aggressive in this one. Wouldn't be the first time Floyd's let me down though.

Floyd walks away with several hundred million no matter if he wins in a 1 round KO or a 12 round decision. Win is a win. And he's not going to change his style to satisfy anyone. He's simply going to do his best to get people to purchase this event. He cares absolutely nothing about criticism whatsoever. Let the people talk.
