At heavyweight, you don't need BJJ and Muay Thai.
You need boxing and the ability to defend takedowns. As much as people are still unable to accept it, boxing is the #1 most deadly form of combat in any environment. Every fight starts on the feet with fists up.

Yes, it's people's instinctive move to use their fists. But your fists are also your most deadly weapon until you can get the fight to the ground. It's not by accident that BJJ practitioners are training their hands in boxing gyms. They know that if they can't get the fight to the ground, they need to have their boxing sharp.
Stipe Miocic is a golden gloves boxer who wrestled in Div 1. He didn't spend his life training in BJJ. He mowed down Werdum who has the best BJJ in the sport. It took 1 punch simply from using footwork and distance and timing.
Not sure why you're disagreeing. I didn't deny that you don't need to have an assortment of skill but BJJ isn't as important as you claim. If you have strengths in other disciplines, you can do very well. How many submissions did you see McGregor execute in his last 5-6 fights? He used primarily boxing in his fights.

 

And those sources were Artem Lobov, Dana White, Owen Roddy, and Conor McGregor. You know...the guys that are heavily invested in McGregor. Let's see that unedited 12 rounds footage then we can discuss this.
