I am pretty sure Schaub is an idiot but Rogan is smart. He was taking a wide UFC stance in the buildup, EXPECTEDLY. What do you expect him to say - Yeah McG will get trashed easily - don't watch...

He was surprised to see Conor handle himself as he did I guess or maybe not, because he rightfully thinks that Conor is a bit of a special guy.

Hell if you really think about it, knowing how the fight went, if Floyd was just a little more off already and walked into some strange counter shot, who knows what could have happen. 1/100 chance of course but still.

From what I heard of Rogans comments before the fight he picked floyd and basically gave conor a slim punchers chance early on the basis that he might be able to rough him up and impose his size. The only time I heard him mention a 'street fight' was in the context of the psychology of the press conference chest thumping where conor seemed to have floyd a bit unnerved. All pretty reasonable

I can't really speak for shaub but his ego has skin in the game in this case which makes idiots of all of us. He usually seems kinda ok

Nothing would have happened, because as it turns out, Conor punches like Magginaggi :D

Floyd has a granite chin and has taken shots from much, much harder punchers. I knew that would be the biggest surprise of this fight for most fans.

Wouldn't call it granite but yeah. It is sturdy. McGregor was far too cagey and I don't think we can gauge his power 100% with this fight but I'll have to agree that boxing-wise he lacks the technique to get enough leverage on his shots. I thought he would try to go allot at some point but yeah he woulda get countered and Kode probably. He didn't have an awful lot of ways to win this one...

I knew he had no realistic chance of KOing Floyd, none at all. After seeing the Magginaggi clip, and hearing what Chris and Paulie had to say about his power, combined with Floyd's amazing defense and chin - a puncher's chance wasn't even worth discussing.

I kept posting on youtube videos that people would be shocked when Floyd would be the puncher in this fight, would TKO Conor, and that even if Conor landed flush Floyd would just smile at him, and had a horde of McNuthuggers calling me a retard etc, hahaha :D

One thing I will say - as a huge boxing fan I was obviously rooting for Floyd and was 99.9% sure he'd win, my only slight worry was that Conor would abandon his usual clinical counterpunching style, and basically catch an aging Floyd by surprise and use his size and youth to maul Floyd to a decision - pull a Jeff Horn basically. Given Conor's terrible stamina and lack of experience though, I knew even that scenario was about a 1 in a thousand shot.

Conor would kill him in a real fight. I mean it's really not debatable.

I don't think Floyd has a granite chin. Solid and dependable for sure. But he never had it tested against a true banger at 147-154 pounds.

Be that as it may, I never imagined Connor's punches troubling him. Dude was arm punching for the most part.

You think? I'm guessing one of the six gorillas surrounding mayweather jr would snatch him up first

I think Floyd has a very good chin, can't call it great simply because we've never seen him take sustained punishment, but his powers of recovery are insane, his head cleared within seconds after the second Mosley punch.

Getting jumped by the opponent's friends, or getting shot or stabbed or hit with a weapon is a very real possibility in a "real fight". So yeah, I'd pick Floyd all day.

Floyd started his career at 130 and took shots from Canelo like they were nothing, yeah I'd say his chin is granite alright.

He also took Pacquiao's straight left as clean as the shots that have fucked up other opponents, and also took it fine.

Certainly isn't a fair fight, but most fights arent....which is why I always think punching people in the napper really fast and hard is better than rolling on the floor with them

I think it's pretty clear we are talking about a mutual fight between two people. I mean even if we are talking about a street fight, odds are the guy that studied self defense the majority of the time will have the advantage.

The guy that knows how to roll on the ground, will certain take the fight to the ground and end it as fast as possible.

You're not getting the point im afriad. Two kids in an organized fight on grass with a politely distanced crowd of passive onlookers.... 'the street'!

What two kids are you talking about? If you were referring to the video i posted, there were adults in there having real fights that were not organized. My point is that if you have ground experience, you will try and take the fight to the ground.

Honestly, I can't recall Canelo landing anything real clean, though I confess it's been years since I watched that fight.

He did take Manny's straight left but Manny himself hasn't had a KO in years. And even against Cotto, Miguel still finished on his feet.

When we describe a granite chin, I think of guys like Hagler, and even someone like Provo who you can hit with everything from someone like Matthyssee and yet still not come close to going down. Floyd has a solid chin, but I'm not so sure it's up there with the GOAT chins of all time.

And the chances that he gets booted in the skull by an onlooker or worse within 10 seconds are about 50%. The good man would have to be a lunatic or have never seen a real fight since lunchbreak at highschool.

So if he gets booted than the guy who booted him won the fight, not the guy on the ground getting pounded or choked out.

I dont remember if ive told this story here but years ago i was in tempe, arizona. they have a main strip of bars where all the arizona state students tend to frequent. i was outside and saw a fight between a teenage latino guy and a white guy in his early 20s. latino guy was beating his ass, landing a lot of clean shots for maybe a minute or two. the white guy was able to get him on the ground and started to choke him out. then boom, latino guys girlfriend kicks the dude in the face hard as fuck. "real fight"
