I lost all respect for Joe Rogan when he claimed that Rousey could beat 50% of the men her weight. That was unforgivable stupidity.

Considering the amount of times he's hurt or knocked people down and not finished them, and the fact that Mosley and Floyd say he hits harder than anyone, yeah I'd hafta agree. Weird.

Just so im clear. If floyd and Conor were in a street fight. And conor, takes Floyd down. Pounds the ever loving shit out of him, begins to choke him out and then all of a sudden someone comes and kicks conor in the head, knocking conor out, your assessment would be that Floyd beat Conor in that street fight?

LOL. Sad, sad MMA fans. All they have left to cling to this is this "Real Fight" myth.

As if boxing is a game of tennis, and MMA is some fight to the death.

MMA fans are so sad and insecure about their gay ass sport.

99% of the time the street fight argument is brought up in this thread, it's brought up by the likes of you or mex or maybe even sly. You bring it up under the guise of "what mma guys say" and then when the discussion is brought up, you want to attack the sport and the fans.

X you are the most insecure person here. You go around looking for the most ridiculous shit people say (i actually believe you make up most of what you post) and use it to attack and berate MMA and it's fans.

Joe Rogan is a fucking idiot. If he's one of MMA's ambassador's, I'd be ashamed.

My assesment would be that conor would be a damn fool for putting himself in that position in that situation. You do your damndest to stay on your feet if you manage nothing else in a chaotic situation like that

I'll say it again, MMA guy doesn't necessarily have an advantage over a boxer in a street fight. If Conor McGregor pinched the ass of prime Nigel Benn's girlfriend at a nightclub, I'm not sure McGregor even gets the chance to attempt a take down.

I only berate MMA in retaliation for the fact that for the most part, it's MMA fans that disprect boxing moreso than vice versa.

The two sports should be able to co-exist, but it's MMA guys that began the campaign of "We're killing boxing."

I remember people wearing those dumb "Boxing is Dead" shirts at a UFC event 10 years ago. Boxing is supposed to have been dead many times before. It's not going anywhere, and it's been a niche sport in the US for awhile anyway.

The whole rivalry is kind of dumb to me anyway.

That isnt even the case in this thread, let alone out of it. Real MMA fans are fans of boxing. There are way more boxing fans that bash MMA, because they fell threatened by it becoming more mainstream than boxing. Not sure why. Both MMA and boxing can equally co-exist. And in Most MMA gyms, they do. I doubt in this day in age, you will find many top boxing trainers that dont train an MMA guy in the striking.

The crazy thing about McNuthuggers hating boxing and calling boxers "boxing pussies" (teenage tapout tshirt wearing nerds that would look literally get killed by any boxer in the world - the irony) is McGregor himself is basically a boxer. He boxes the shit out of people in the octagon, that's how he wins. Conor himself clearly doesn't hate boxing, and clearly studies the sport, yet for some weird reason his pathetic little groupies hate it.

the only real fight of a top level MMA guy vs a boxer (sort of) that I know of, was Don Fry getting his ass whooped by a boxing trainer

I mean the bullshit and lies you spew are so transparent. Basically MMA right now to Mex is Kostya Tszyu. Nobody can take what you say seriously about the issue. Im sure the response will be that you are an MMA fan. Sure. MMA fans dont talk like this.

Anthony, if these "real fights" that you mention always end in some homoerotic position on the ground, then explain to us how Conor became so successful in MMA by BOXING.

Anyway let's forget this stupid bickering about "real fights", I have a question for you dudes that have described McGregor as a "great athlete" - including those who weren't impressed with him, like JOM.

Like I said before, I certainly rate McGregor as a fighter - in fact I actually think he's the best fighter in the UFC. However I don't think he's a great athlete.

When I think of a great all round athlete in fighting, I guess I rank them on 4 categories - speed, power, stamina, and agility/movement. Out of those 4, I'd say Conor has average speed and power, crap stamina, and good movement. So how exactly is he a great athlete? Great athletes don't gas after 4 rounds and hit like Magginaggi.

Even in his UFC wins, I'm impressed by his skill and technique, timing, accuracy, patience, and confidence. I think they're the attributes that have given him the success he's had, not athleticism.

Yeah, boxing hasn't been a truly mainstream sport since the Fab 4 days.

Even in the 90s, during the DLH, Jones, Holy, era, it was still a niche sport where casuals only knew about the truly elite guys.

So essentially, boxing has been allegedly dying since before I turned 10. I'm in my 30s, and it's still here.

Boxing must have the slowest growing cancer of all time.

I don't recall calling him a great athlete. The guy has a knack for fighting, and it's obvious that he has great capacity as a fighter, since he has good timing and accuracy, not to mention that je mpves really well. He's also fairly strong physically

I don't think he's that impressive athletically, bar maybe for his swiftness and agility. for example, I think that Charlo is a much much better athlete

In a "real fight" NEVER EVER underestimate the fact that boxers know how to throw harder, faster, more effective punches than MMA fighters do, and also are MUCH better trained in avoiding punches... that counts for a lot more than MMA guys think, because many "real fights" end before they even get to the ground.

Exactly how I feel. I think most legit boxers would knock an MMA fighter TFO before he even had a chance of getting the boxer to the ground and rolling around in speedos, bending his toes back etc.
