I give credit to Chael and Bisping - amongst a sea of MMA retardation leading up to this fight they were the only ones to be honest and correctly state that boxers hit MUCH harder than MMA fighters.

to be honest, I think it would pretty much comes to who makes the first move. If the boxer decide to throw punches, he probably wins, while if the MMA guy goes for a TD or clinch first, he probably wins. Thing is. Considering the dangerous nature of the environment of a street fight, I'd much prefer be the guy that has the advantage when the fight is standing

I can only speak for America, but "like I said before", boxing's more popular in the States now than it was 10-15 years ago.

I remember in the very early 00s, when I was legitimately worried if boxing would be around in 2015.

Fast forward to now, and the sporting event all my friends and colleagues are currently discussing the most, is Canelo-Golov.

    Some "dead" sport this is...

  5. Street fight doesn't have soft canvas etc. There's chairs and tables in the way, hard ground. Easiest thing to do usually is throw some motherfucking punches. in a street fight men are "freaking out"...they're aren't casually getting into clinches etc....it's all arms and elbows and knees.

boxing won't be dead in the US because of the vast amount of mexican-american

Excatly. and going in a clinch and suplexing someone is really easy to do also, and it hurts as fuck. Broke a guy hand doing so in my youth, and ended the fight this way.

Look, I like boxing more than MMA, but let's not pretend that the only way to win a streetfight is by striking.

It's huge here right now, definitely a peak of popularity since I started following. This fight helped too

But lets also not pretend that in a street fight that striking only consist of punches.

That's all anyone is mentioning right now when it comes to standing and striking. As if kicks wouldnt play a factor in a standing fight with MMA vs. a boxer.

My final verdict is - in a street fight it would really depend on the situation, and the individuals involved. Impossible to say that one sport has the definitive advantage over the other.

Sometimes the MMA would win, other times, the boxer would fuck them up. That's the REALISTIC answer.

MMA guys would have you believe that their fighters would win 100% of the time in street fights, which is comical to believe.

too be honest, kicks are a lot less useful in a street fight than in a ring/octogon, because jeans make it much harder to do a high kick, and the ground is not even, make it much more hard to have good enough balance to throw a good one.

For what it's worth, in all of my years bouncing, I don't recall seeing anyone throw a good kick standing up (some were thrown when a guy was on the ground already).Even when you see MMA guys in streetfigths, they barely never use any kick.

You also have to consider this - which individuals would be comfortable in an actual street fight. Cause BOTH sports, boxing and MMA, operate under rules.

Some boxers, like Hopkins, Tyson, and Duran, were street fighting since leaving the womb.

Why would anyone trained in MMA throw a high kick in a street fight, when a low kick is much more effective? I mean you hardly see high kicks even in professional MMA fights now. Low kicks are very effective in a street fight. Especially someone with far superior reach.

When guys liek Hopkins, Tyson and Duran were street fighting, they were still teaching that bullshit traditional martial arts on every other corner. MMA changed the game. Most MMA guys make fun of these kung Fu, TKD people who if ever punched in real life would crumple to the ground.

Man, street fights don't last more than a few seconds. You don't have enough time to destroy the leg of someone in one. I never saw any fight ending this way, even on the internet

Destroy the leg? Im not sure what you are talking about destroying the left. We are not talking about a fight plan here. Low kicks are used for various reasons. In the past, we have taught to use low kicks almost like a jab or distraction in order to get close.

If they laugh at all these traditional Kung Fu guys, then why is Conor's idol Bruce Lee?

A teep would be useful, but kicks are most of the time too risky in a streetfight

Like i said. Similar to a jab. They are asking him about High Kicks and shit. A teep would be extremely effective in a street fight.

I agree with the teep, see above

Bruce Lee not a traditional Martial Artist. In fact, he rejected traditional Martial Arts. His idea was to combine any and everything that worked. He idolized Muhammad Ali. Pick up a book or something man.

Not sure i see the risk in a teep against some street guy.

you misunderstand me. I said a teep is probably the only kick that I don't consider risky, and would say is useful in a streetfight
