Inspired by the fact that Hut mentioned Good Will Hunting.

While that's an OVERRATED Matt Damon movie.... this is a highly UNDERRATED Matt Damon movie.

One of the better movies of the late 90s.

    Fucking awesome movie.

what is it with you and talking about things being "underrated" and "overrated"? where do you get these "ratings" from, which you judge to be inaccurate? if you're saying the rottentomatoes score is like 20% out, or the performance at the oscars was completely wrong, ok. but if not, then it just sounds like the people you hang out with have a silly taste in movies.

I'm not a big fan of him either. He's basically a homeless man's Dicaprio.

  7. I don't see the comparison with dicaprio at all.

damon and dicraprio prob similar levels of actors imo. both limited, but good at doing some things. damon good as bourne, ripley, his comedy character in the ocean's movies, but hasn't really demonstrated much range or great depth. dicrappio similar - good at characters in a narrow range (troubled golden boys, a la beach, catch me if you can), but when he's tried to go beyond that he often just ends up shouting and banging the table (django unchained, wolf of wall street).

I thought DiCaprio was excellent in both Django, and WOWS.

Perhaps there isn't a huge gap between them in actual acting ability, but DiCaprio has a charisma that he brings to the screen that Damon lacks. You know, the type of charisma that guys like Nicholson, Paul Newman, and Denzel possess/possessed, only to a lesser extent than those guys.

Damon never had that. He has zero charisma on the screen.

I completely agree with that assessment. I think DiCaprio is more often than not, on the same level as an actor as Damon. They both have a few standout acting performances where they exceed.

What separates DiCaprio though, is his charisma. Just as you said he has it like the top actors and Damon doesn't.

By the way I never saw this movie and really have no idea what it's about. Should I check it out Anthony?

Yeah. I think there is enough going on that it will keep you interested.
