    12 Angry Men.

I've officially come to that conclusion. Above The Godfather. Above any other movie considered to be the best.

It's simply the finest cinematic masterpiece ever made.

Is a toss between Gone With The Wind and Citizen Kane.

It's definitely one of the most rewatchable films ever. Right, right up there among the best. Being hyper critical there are a few moments that didn't quite play as naturalistic in it....the bit where they all turn their back on the racist comes to mind....the bit where one threatens to punch Cobb for shouting at the old man out of nowhere.... the climactic scene where Cobb finally breaks down.

I'm not sure if it's down to acting, editing or even just the differing mannerisms of people 60 years ago but those moments take me out the picture slightly

Still a bonafide 5 star film tho, I don't know why I'm picking fault in it like a dick

  4. I still have yet to watch this and citizen cane. Until then I'll stick with Godfather and Ben Hur.

I have to say though that Inglorious Basterds is also a masterpiece....and I'm not a big Tarantino fan in the slightest

I finally watched Citizen Kane about 6 months ago. It is not the best movie ever, although it certainly was AT THAT TIME. It's a very good movie though, even now. I enjoyed it.

  7. He mentioned Inglorious Basterds with The Godfather and Ben-Hur in a Best Movie Of All-Time thread... :emoji_joy:

  8. Rainmaker

Best movie ever is Paul Verhoeven's RoboCop.

  10. 12 Angry Men is off-the-charts and definitely a candidate for the most debated subject in entertainment history: Best Movie Ever.

    Very overrated film.

  12. But arent the movies that make this particular shortlist always?

Basterds ain't even the best Tarentino movie, let alone best movie of all time.

Not even the best movie in the year it came out.

Not true, according to the 1976 Academy Awards for Best Picture.

  17. Not even the best Rocky movie.
Not even the best Sylvester Stallone movie.

  18. Hut*Hut

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

Clearly the best rocky and Stallone film, don't be daft

I have no problem with 12 Angry Men being placed at the top. Incredible film.

The more I have thought about Inglorious Bastards, the more I am inclined to agree with Sly. I am not ready to proclaim it as the best movie ever, but to me it is not far off either. So multi-leveled story, such great acting. Furthermore, for the first time in a long time it was a movie that said something new about life

12 Angry Men is indeed a masterpiece. Magnificent film.

Rocky has everything. A complete movie. That's why it's my favorite and the movie I regard as the best.

  23. I liked it and would consider it great but I think it's far from being the best film ever. It's a simple film with limited depth

  24. You're agreeing with someone who has a shit taste in movies.

  25. And thinks Avatar is a cinematic masterpiece.

Gone with the Wind is the greatest American film ever made, sold more movie tickets than any other movie ever made, still has the record (adjusted for inflation) of highest grossing movie ever, was one of the first color films, won a bunch of Academy Awards, is one of the most written about movies ever and was highly influential for decades. A true masterpiece, but hated by today's snowflakes for its politically incorrectness...

Avatar was the best theatre experience I ever had and i dont expect it to change.

  29. It was. It obviously didn't have the dialogue or the acting of a Godfather, but it wasn't about that. What makes it a great film is the story and the execution of it.

For the love of God, please don't mention that piece of shit farce of a huge blue people movie in a thread about 12 Angry Men.

Might as well bring up Transformers in a thread about Chinatown.
