Very odd.
A supposed light-powered boxer-puncher who dropped rock-chinned Froch and gave him fits.

 

Groves had Froch on queer street like Taylor and Kessler and Ward never did.

Groves is not feather-fisted. That's laughable.

 

Groves is a languid long-armed guy with good leverage. He can crack.

 

I always wondered what if. What if he had stopped Froch on his feet the first time they met. Where would he be at now in his career. Obviously a World champ with more money, but aside from that.

 

Taylor hurt Froch pretty bad, to be fair. The punches which did it were pretty similar: Froch turning into his own sloth-like punch and walking blind, chin first, into a well-placed punch.

That was always the way to hurt the farmer. Great chin when facing onto the many, many punches he got his with but very vulnerable to speedy shots he didn't see coming.

Groves has no chin. He's not Amir Khan chinny, but his chin is poor. That deficit is always very hard to get around at world level.

Ah ok. I don't see it personally...but if it did happen it would be by bodyshots

 

I don't expect it but it's far from impossible given the styles. GGG is also somewhat prone to cuts and swelling which could factor in as well.

 

Agreed that it's more likely to see Golov hurt to the body than hurt to the head.

I was watching Canelo-Cotto this weekend, and I had forgotten how WINDED Canelo looked at times in that fight.

Ginger obviously inherited his dad's (Oscar) stamina.

I think GGG has regressed a bit, become impatient ... I think Canelo does alright and goes the distance but I like GGG by decision based on his superior power and stamina

This would have been my pick a year or two ago but I think GGG is in decline while that weight cheat, connected, clogg's uncle joe looking motherfucker is at his "peak" so I expect a pretty competitive fight ...
