  3. Most light heavyweights had cheerleader chins at Heavyweight. Foster wasn't exactly randall tex Cobb at heavyweight either...

Heavyweight is a different story, but Moorer struggled with and was hurt by guys at lightheavy whom Foster would have destroyed.

Whereas Foster's chin was fine at 175... his "chin" sucked at heavyweight because he weighed like 185 against 220 pound guys

I could be wrong, because I haven't watched the fight in years, but didn't Foster buzz Frazier? Before getting brutally taken out, obviously.

He caught him flush with a perfect shot but Frazier didn't look particularly shook by it to me

And you had guys like Billy Conn in 1941 who was basically a Light-Heavy, at best, going as close as anyone did before Spinks to winning the HW title from 175.

Conn was the best at 175 by sone distance at the time though, division was weak... same situation Foster found himself in and Moore somewhat in the 50s (though he had Harold Johnson who was amazing)

  10. I remember reading from one of my alltime favorite books - The Greatest: My Own Story - released before the Thrilla In Manila ´75 - and an entire chapter depicts the conversation Ali had with Frazier in a cab in 1970, before their first fight and theyre having a go at other, trying to build up a potential fight and at one point, Ali lists possible opponents and mentions Bob Foster.
Frazier´s response: ´I´d wreck Foster. Hell, I kill a monkey in the street´

  11. My point being, Jones Jr would have been wrecked by any half-decent heavyweight at that time he decided to fight the worst heavyweogh of all-time, John Ruiz.

Surprised by your pick here X. I agree, but Foster is my all time favourite fighter, so i think my pick comes with a certain amount of bias. Even tho i also love Roy Jones :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

This pick is nothing new though. I've always thought Foster would be bad for Roy.

Roy was unbeatable at 168. He would beaten Calzaghe and Ward by wide margins... but at 175, you can make a case of about 3 guys beating him.

Sorry X, I've been outta the loop for a number of years!

I'd like to think that Foster's reach, great jab and overall educated left hand would keep Jones at bay, diffuse his speed advantages and that Foster would wear him down and KO him.

Sometimes I wonder tho. Foster had some deceptive speed in his left hand, but Jones would have been so much faster the whole thing is difficult for me to see playing out in a boxing ring.

Certainly agree about Andre Ward, Jones speed would negate all the things that Ward does so well

  16. Logically Andre Ward shouldn't be able to beat a prime Jones. In fact he shouldn't be able to win more than 3 rounds. Ward however seems like a guy that finds a way to win regardless of the odds against him and so you never know.
