I will say though that a PRIME Triple G is a better middleweight than Canelo is, no doubt about that, but again I feel GGG is slipping and more importantly he has the PERFECT style for Canelo to look good against. Canelo's style and abilities are best suited to a guy that brings the fight to him and Canelo has the chin, the counterpunching and the power to ensure he doesn't get beaten up by a guy with that style.

 

Why? This is the same Canelo that reliquished his belt to avoid Gennady, after saying "We don't fuck around in Mexico" and he'd fight GGG anytime, anywhere. The same Canelo that said Golovkin wasn't a big enough name, then fought "Liam Smith" instead, ol. The same Canelo that said he wasn't ready for 160 then fought Chavez JR at 164.

The same Canelo who imo has never even been in a good fight, and is an overprotected Golden Boy cash cow. So no, I don't think it would be great for boxing at all.

Golovkin is far more exciting, likeable, willing to fight anyone, and better for boxing.

 

Tbh Sly I think you're seeing what you want to see. For a guy that never goes the distance, Golovkin finished stronger than Jacobs in that fight, and fought well all the way through. There was also nothing to suggest he doesn't like it to the body.

Agreed. The only upside to a Canelo win is he's younger, but even then a loss to GGG still isn't the end for him. If your only pro losses are to Floyd and GGG it's no disgrace. If Golovkin loses he'll be frozen out. I think the best outcome for boxing is Golovkin winning, but in an action packed fight. If he bludgeons Alvarez in one sided fashion fans are going to come away feeling they were sold a false promise of a competitive fight. We'll even get to hear "Mayweather vs McGregor was better!" Ugh.

 

Golvkin will stomp that ginger fock.

Canelo looks cut up and has probably been on the JMM Urine-Drinking Programme.

He wins a very debatable decision.

 

You're just hoping two fellow Irishmen don't lose back to back big fights.

 

A part of me hopes Canelo wins for that reason, sort of, he's an antidote to the Fu-Manchu-Esque,all powerful, Evil Force From The East........and that Canelo can counteract that with good, honest boxing and toughness.

Unfortunately,I cannot see him winning on points except in an unsatisfactory and controversial fashion.

I wonder how many points will be deducted from GGG tonight.

 

I doubt more than one as GGG is pretty clean, although I'm sure the ref will be warning him about everything borderline. The crowd will buy anything Canelo tries to sell too.

 

Bayless just announced that he's already DQ'd Golov... for staring too hard at Canelo during the faceoff.

 

I agree with a lot of this but GGG is old and almost done and Canelo is young and prime with many years ahead of him and probably more marketable for the sport

I see a similar fight to that of the one vs Brook (who, btw, would give Canelo a proper test) - Canelo probably won't hit the deck but as soon as one of Golovkin's bodyshots lands, he'll be more 'on-his-bike' and try and box to get the judges' obvious nod like Irish said above, rather than get in-close himself and trade.

If he trades, he'll perish badly.
