This is one of the more popular movie comparisons to make. Personally, I think RB is better by far, but wanna know if anybody disagrees and says The Omen.

  2. Never seen Rosemary's baby...but from the title alone it sounds like a similar concept to the Omen.

Rosemary's Baby launched the entire Satanic movie genre, and to this day remains the best one (The Excorcist is overrated).

DEFINITELY put it at the top of your list of movies to watch.

Neither have I. I’ve at least heard of this one and I know it’s pretty popular but not sure how many on this board are old enough to have seen it or have an interest to.

I mean, it's not like it came out 30 years before The Omen.

    It's older by 8 years.

Well that’s still a lot seeing as how The Omen is old as shit itself. Still I just don’t think too many people on here have seen it. It’s a good versus thread though just not enough opinions in this case because too many young heads on here.

I remember watching "Rosemarie's Baby' when it first aired on tv around 1970 or so and was extremely disappointed. except for the rape/dream scene, the movie doesn't deliver. So much talk about something that is never shown. "The Omen", on the other hand, had such an impression on me that it was the catalyst that prompted me to read the bible and in the process I found Jesus. God works in mysterious ways!

  8. Omen was very loosely based on the Bible. VERY LOOSELY. But as a kid it scared the hell out of me.

  9. Yeah because at that age, your prowess as a movie critic was so rounded and complete you were able to make such a critical, unbiased, judgment call on a classic such as Rosemary's Baby.

    Arsehole.

  13. Nope.
    You´re wrong. AGAIN.
    Its a great movie.

Stick to what you know best: Chinese movies and big BOX-OFFICE movies.

Rosemary's baby is a dark film and pretty unnerving, but I do prefer the Omen, tbh.

What about It Lives. Anyone remember that one? Or It Lives Again?

Scared the fucking SHIT out of me when i first saw it as a kid.

I remember those two. I also remember, like you did, that the title was "It Lives" and the sequel "It Lives Again". Apparently now is 'It's Alive' (like the Frankenstein line) which for the sequel makes no sense "Its Alive Again"...Mandela Effect...

Essentially, what RB vs The Omen comes down to is your preference. The Omen is more of a horror movie, while Rosemary's Baby is more a psychological thriller, which isn't surprising considering its a Polanski movie.

    Exactly!
And of all the Polanski films I prefer the very underrated The Fearless Vampire Killers or Pardon Me but Your Teeth Are In My Neck (1967). That has to be the greatest spoof/homage to gothic horror films ever made (plus it has Sharon Stone looking very sexy). Great movie poster by fantasy art legend Frank Frazetta.

Of all the Polanski films, I would HOPE you'd prefer his best work... Chinatown.

  21. No, not ´apparently now´ - it´s always been titled: It´s Alive

Rosemary's Baby is a much more twisted film than the Omen.

  24. Sharon Tate.

  26. I mean I know he´s a little cunt and always has been (a 5´5" tall control-freak who sent his then-pregnant wife Sharon Tate back to LA on her own, to be knifed to death 2 weeks later....and a peadophile to boot), but his two movies, Rosemary´s Baby and Chinatown, are movie tour-de-forces...
