Better upon repeat viewings.... I feel Arrival will one day be remembered as a classic. It's a great movie. Along with Hell or High Water, the two best movies made in the last 2 years.

Two of the slowest, really hard to get through movies of the decade.

    Didn't like either.

Neither movie was slow, unless you're of the short attention span era.

Both do a great job of keeping your interest.

I watched Arrival and had no expectations of it (that is, from what I read subsequently), and I just felt it dragged.
    Good idea though.

Hell Or High Water - it reminded me of a poor man´s One False Move or Lone Star...however, I will add I didnt get past the 1hr mark.

One False Move was overrated as fuck. I didn't see the hype at all.

    Never seen Lone Star.

BTW, I just looked up on Lone Star and it has an incredibly high rating and reviews. I'll make it a point to watch it soon and let you know what I thought.

Yeah, but One False Move wasn't anything special.

Someone (maybe you) told me it was better than A Simple Plan. Definitely not! A Simple Plan is better by a light year!

Just watched this. I enjoyed it. Love the concept of this movie; a universal language, being able to see in to the future (although that's a scary thought). Made me think what if? What if this was to actually happen and how would world governments react. Well, we already know what Trump would do....I'm gonna bomb the shit outta 'em.

If a highly intelligent life form landed in America, and said "Take me to your leader", it'd be pretty embarrassing taking them to Trump.

Would Trump offer to buy them a McDonald's hamburger and say we've got to get down to work? Lol.

In all seriousness, I think there would be worldwide panic and fear and think many people would result to violence instead of reasoning. It's just human nature.

I just watched this film. I liked it. I still don't understand the purpose of these aliens though and how by them helping mankind would help them in 3000 years. Aside from getting the world to work together...on them...and still don't get exactly what they achieved before disappearing. What, getting Amy Adams married to Jeremy Renner and have a child destined for Cancer? Someone help a brother out...

This is exactly what I was thinking when I woke up. Looking back it felt like it was centrally focused on Amy Adams' character, the loss of her child, her being the one who made the breakthrough in getting answers from the aliens and getting World governing bodies to stand down, her future.
