Best non-boxing sports film

We're on a boxing forum so most would likely choose Rocky or Raging Bull or something. So let's throw those out.

Sports is very subjective and cultural...so my pick would probably not be popular with Americans.

Chariots of Fire!!!

 

As a baseball history nerd, I really liked "Eight Men Out".

 

I've never seen COF.

 

Wow. For me it's pretty much a perfect film

 

I'll add it my list of movies to watch. I'll try to get around to it sometime this month.

I think that "Breaking Away" is my favorite non-boxing sport film. Love that movie.


On 2009 celebrating the 30th anniversaty of the film some people on Austin, Texas decided to recreate the film climatic final race. The response was very enthusiastic as many 'teams' formed and competed in what seemed like the Warriors version of Breaking Away as each team came with their own weird, funny names and outfits. My favorite was the all girls 'Kissing Bandits'

 

I'd have to steal one of Jimmy's and go with The Wrestler.

The Wrestler is one of the best movies of the last 17 years.

 

So basically, what everyone has listed.....and no-one has listed Chariots Of Fire.

Moneyball was a great movie.

 

Seabiscuit is another film I really like.
