He's not my favourite (I'd go with Arnie), but I'd have to give it to Tom Cruise.

    I'd go with Ford.

Raiders is better than any movie that the rest of them have ever been in.

Would you put Jackie Chan in to a martial arts category? If Action then for me he's right up there. as he does all his own stunts.

Martial arts guys are definitely action guys. I chose not to include guys like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee because I think that's better for another more specific topic but at the same time they can be included if you wish. I don't think doing your own stunts should be a consideration. It's more about whether or not that actor adds to the excitement of his films and whether he's consistently in highly entertaining action films

There's a lot of great action in films like Rumble in the Bronx, the Police Story films, New Police Story, Project A, Rush Hour, etc, etc, but I just can't place them above Arnie and Stallone films, for pure action quality.

I agree, though, that Martial Arts guys should not be included in this specific genre.

I'll go with Cruise since he's my favorite actor but Stallone is probably the GOAT because he created his legendary characters.

This is also dependant on what type of film we're talking.

Bruce Willis is the GOAT action star of any kind of cop movie.

Eastwood is OBVIOUSLY the GOAT action star in westerns.

I'll stick with my Arnie pick but can see why people have gone for Stallone and Cruise. Arnie case for being the best action star is strengthened as he has soooo many memorable one-liners.

Arnold is in his own league
even not-so-action movies like Kingergarten Cop are great

    his top 5 are:
    Predator
    Terminator 1 and 2
    Total Recall
    True Lies

what do the other guys have on their resume that comes anywhere near this?

True Lies is steaming hot shit. It's possibly THE WORST Arnold movie.

Conan the Barbarian is definitely a top 5 Arnold movie.

Agreed on Conan the barbarian. True lies isn't that bad though. Obviously it isn't in the class of terminator , predator, total recall or running man but it's still rather entertaining...especially with Jamie lee Curtis stripping down

Me and I believe most others in the thread have grown up watching Schwarzenegger's movies so he is difficult to surpass. He made the biggest movies in the muscle-era.

However, I went with Eastwood. Action movies can actually have some kind of a theme and seriousness in them and Eastwood as an all-time great actor is able to express them too.

    1. Jamie Curtis has the body of a young boy. I could never get hard for her.

    2. True Lies was a huge letdown. ANY movie that gives Tom Arnold a substantial role is doomed to be crap.

Given its enormous hype, True Lies was one of the biggest let downs of the 90s. Not to the studio though, it did huge numbers. But it was a mediocre, AT BEST, film.

The Last Action Hero was the biggest letdown that tumbled Arnold from top king of the box office. True Lies is one of his finest films.
And what did you said about Jamie lee Curtis body? If you don't get a woodie looking at a woman with THAT body, then you have serious issues.
