It had been about 7-8 years or so since I'd watched it, but I decided to rewatch it tonight. Plain and simple, point blank.... one of the best movies ever made.

No love for Vertigo? I guess cause it's not a Marvel/DC superhero movie, huh?

I've never been able to watch it in full, not because I didn't like it or anything but I was always getting interrupted or distracted by people when it was on TV. I had the same issue with the Dark Knight for some reason. I've made the decision to finally watch it in full when Hitchcock season rolls around again at Regents Street Cinema, really cool place to watch the old, classic movies.

Last night was my fourth time watching it. The first time I watched it I was young... like 17 or so. No 17 year old can fully appreciate the brilliance of Vertigo.

I was literally blown away last night by how good it is. It hasn't aged a BIT... it's actually gotten better.

It's unseated Citizen Kane on many lists as the greatest film ever, and if you watch it you'll see why.

VERY VERY few films in history are better than Vertigo.

    I've never seen Vertigo.

That's about to be rectified in about 30mins when the missus has fucked off to bed abd I've got a bottle of Montilla rum to dig into along with it...

I find this mind boggling. Aren't you a big Hitchcock fan?

I'm gonna watch Rear Window either tomorrow night or Thursday night. It's been a long ass time since I've seen it.

Post your thoughts on Vertigo after you watch it tonight. I promise, if you appreciate Hitch, you won't be let down. There's a reason why most ppl say Vertigo is his best film.

    Nope.
I've seen The Birds, North By Northwest, Dial M For Murder, and Psycho

So, no, never seen Rear Window either!

Rear Window is right up there with Psycho and Vertigo as arguably his best film.

The Birds and Dial M For Murder are GREAT FUCKING MOVIES, but not quite as good as the above three.

I couldn't really get into North By Northwest.

Strangers on a Train is a great Hitch film.

    That movie gave me Vertigo.

But seriously, folks, I haven't watched that movie since I was like 18 and I always confuse it with either 'Rear Window' or 'North by Northwest'. You see, I watched all those films during a Hitchcock movie marathon and I get them all mixed up! LOL

What kinda fake ass movie buff are you?

Vertigo, and Rear Window are both very dark, haunting thrillers.... Rear Window is actually scarier, but Vertigo is more haunting, if that makes sense. Both feature great performances by Jimmy Stewart. The theme of Rear Window is paranoia, and the theme of Vertigo is obsession.

North by Northwest is a mistaken identity action thriller. It's not a dark like Vertigo and Rear Window.

I think one of the main reasons is Im not a big fan of Jimmy Stewart movies.

But Hollywood in the 40s-60s must have been awesome: for one thing, the women were fucking women...feminine, glamorous, seamed nylons, skirts, heels, curvy...they all looked different and looked the part.

Not like the fucking snowflake/SJW/Cry Rape! dross we have nowadays.

    25 mins in, BTW...

Didn't you read my post? I watched them all in a freaking movie tv marathon ONCE. That was on 1979 I guess. It has rained a LOT since then. I vaguely remember anything about each one.

Vertigo is Stewart's best performance. Without giving too much away, you'll see his remarkable personality descent... he starts off the film as an honorable, good hearted man... but due to circumstances, he transforms into something darker.

Speaking of women... Kim Novak is sexy as all Hell in Vertigo.

    Yeah Kim Novak is.

Im struggling with this movie to term it as an absolute classic though.
The Plot seems to be so over-convuated , and its over 2 hrs.
That´s a LONG time for a movie from this era with this kind of plot....I found myself wandering...

The plot isn't that difficult to undertsnad. And all questions are answered toward the end.... the brilliant end, I might add.

Dont see what the hype is about whatsoever.

Psycho is far more dramatic, ground-breaking and thought-provoking.
    Vertigo is just a thriller-noir.

I think you're crazy. It's a fantastic movie. But to each his own.

I'm gonna re-watch Rear Window tonight, and probably re-watch Dial M For Murder tomorrow.

I'd suggest watching Rear Window. You'll probably enjoy it more than Vertigo.

Re-watched Rear Window last night. Wasn't as good as I had remembered it. I remembered it being a lot more suspenseful than it actually is.

Vertigo & Psycho are a level above Rear Window.
