I got one - reign over me. I thought that film was really fantastic, but I seem to have been the only person in the world

12 Monkeys is a polarizing movie, so I guess it counts. Some people think 12 Monkeys is a sci-fi masterpiece. Others, like myself, have never been able to get into it. I don't like 12 Monkeys at all.

The Conversation is critically acclaimed and hailed by many as one of the best films ever. It doesn't count. I've never seen one negative thing written about The Conversation.

Nah. You're not alone. That was a quality film. One of the few movies where I don't wanna kick Adam Sandler in the nuts.

Bamboozled by Spike Lee is a great example I can think of.

This movie was ripped to shreds by a lot of dumbass critics, but I think it's a brilliant satire Definitely one of Spike's best movies.

Skin Deep, which is a Blake Edwards film, is one of my favorite comedies. But I do not think it is well known and certainly was not a hit in the theatres.

12 Monkeys I already mentioned was a critically acclaimed film nominated for a bunch of awards and a modest box office hit. It spawned a short-lived tv series. Doesn't meet the thread criteria.

I heard that Trump thought 12 Monkeys was a movie about an NBA team.

  8. That's just wrong man, lol.

It wasn't about an NBA team?

  11. Not sure if this counts - but this was a low-budget, mixed-review release from a few years back and because of where it was filmed and its subject matter, still creeps the living fuck out if me:

The Warriors is a fan favorite film. Widely heralded as a very good film with very few critics that actually disliked it. Very influential too with lots of merchandise that sells.

    Doesn't meet the criteria.

Fuck your criteria. Did it make a stack at the box office? Is it heralded by critics as a classic? Ever feature on any top lists of the major sites?

No? Then it's a cult film and you can blow me.

  17. It was actually criticised by many critics at the time for its then-new forray into violence in the movies which coincided with crime in the USA generally...
