What type of fights do you rewatch the most?

Vanzie down twice early against a guy with an upper body like the trees he cut down for a living. A fight I would have made a lot of money on in todays environment as I always fancied Murray as a strong but limited front-runner.

Vanzie was fringe European class.

After talking about it so much I just rewatched round one of Barrera Hamed. Man, what a beautiful display of boxing that was from Barrera. He was the consummate professional in there. Hamed by contrast looked like a "leap amateur". At the end of the round Barrera dropped his arms and stared at the crowd as if to say "who the fuck is this Arab that most pundits were picking over me? I'm the fucking man". Glorious

 

If Jason Matthews (another favourite of mine) could pick up a world belt, Vanzie could have. For the record, I would have picked Vanzie over Schwer, Dunne and Ayers, shame those fights never happened.

 

Vanzie ran into Yuri Romanov who subsequently did fuck all.

Vanzie used to complain that he couldn't get the big fights because of discrimination.............but what he meant was discrimination against northern fighters, as he, Vanzie, was from Bradford.

 

Yeah Romanov fucked him up. He beat Earl both times clearly though and was robbed. I thought he beat Armagh as well.

 

Quadruple-word.

And the funniest shit evah, was The Hamed's, cunt-flaps that they are, picked Barrera to fight instead of winner Erik Morales because in Riath's own words: "we felt Barrera won that fight" (Morales v Barrera I)

So, yeah, although many did feel Barrera won it was the ultimate back-fire in a) choosing a fighter who'd been in a fucking war just 8-10 weeks earlier and b) trying to go for the 'easy' option.

 

i've got a special love for upsets. love seeing/hearing the turn-around in the attitudes of the commentators and the favourite. it's like a movie where you already know the basic premise beforehand from the poster and the trailers - e.g. he's gonna get bit by a spider and get superpowers, he's gonna wake up tomorrow and it's gonna be the same day again, - and you enjoy watching the protagonist gradually come to terms with what you already know. sanders-wlad, mayorga-forrest I, tito-hopkins, khan-prescott - watched each of them a bunch of times.

The humour was piled on furthermore with the showing on national TV of the documentary surrounding this fight, which gave it even higher comedic value.

For sure. Love watching a good well-deserved beatdown. Jones-Hall, Barrera-Hamed, Judah-Stinks II...

 

I also love rewatching fights where an overrated guy (a guy I knew beforehand was overrated) gets beat the fuck down.

I usually rewatch fights from guys I really like, a good schooling or fights that are generally entertaining. Surprise results are always good for a rewatch.

Fighters that are very skilled and aesthetically pleasing to watch, I rewatch more often. I almost always watch highlight reels I make of fights instead of the whole fight.

Fighters like Erik Morales and Arturo Gatti were great to watch when the fights happened live, but I prefer re-watching fights (at least the highlight reels) of Floyd Mayweather more. Not that Morales was ugly to watch or anything, I just prefer rewatching Mayweather’s artistry.

With the exception of Barrera-Morales 1, of course. That’s one of the best fights ever.
