Loma vs Rigo - Final Predictions!

Discussion in 'General Boxing Discussion' started by Destruction and Mayhem, Dec 4, 2017.

  1. This is the Leonard-Duran of our time: Two great fighters with exceptional skills, separated by 2 weight classes, where the bigger younger and more celebrated guy is favored but will lose due to his overconfidence.

    Ridondeaux by Decision!

    Wow. Bold.

In his prime, I'd pick Rigo, but he's too old and inactive now, not to mention that he's also undersized. Loma in a rather easy fight

I'm leaning towards Loma by decision but despite the size difference I just think Rigo is too damn good to be beaten easily. Really cannot wait for this one, two incredible fighters.

  5. I could be wrong, and we shall see on the night, but my sense is that Rigo is smarter and more elusive than Loma...although Loma is more athletically gifted. I think Rigo's height disadvantage will actually be to his advantage on fight night as Loma will find him a very difficult target and may increase his volume recklessly in order to try to hit him.

Well they're both excellent defensive fighters but Loma is much more aggressive so obviously he will get tagged a bit more. I will say this though, he does seem to have a tendency to mark up a bit, even when he hasn't really been hit that much. That could be dodgy against a sharpshooter like Rigo.

    Fantastic fight!

As most, I pick Loma mainly due size and youth. Rigo is a fucking wizard with all-time great skillset but he is a bit soft

    Rigo by decision.

I think the youth and size factor will be keys. But you never know with Rigo. He may just pull out another great performance. Wouldn't put it past him in the least. I just suspect that jumping up two weight classes against a younger, bigger, and stronger opponent is not gonna be good for him. Loma will outwork him IMO.

Contrary to most, I don't see it as a fantastic, or even a good, fight. To me, it's simply a case of Lomachenko adding a name on his resume without much risk. Rigondeaux is too small, old and inactive to be even competitive in this one (he'll be in the fight early on, but it will be obvious to anyone with boxing knowledge that he'll be losing the long term war). Lomachenko wide UD or late ko in a one sided fight.

Wow again. Maybe an even bolder prediction than Sly's.

I love to watch Rigo at work, but I have started to think if he is a tad overrated.

His claim to fame is the Donaire bout which according to the judges and ringside journalists was closer than it seemed, and the rest of Donaire's career didn't match his status at that point.

That being said, Loma has plenty to prove as well, he too looks phenomenal

While I agree that Loma should win, there was nothing close about Rigo-Donaire. That was super one sided.

Size is always a factor but when it comes down to these two I'm not sure it will be the key factor. Both guys are very astute technically and we're likely to see a chess match more resembling an amateur bout than a pro one. Rigo is very elusive and could frustrate anybody but I think over 12 rounds Loma will start to find him more and more regularly as it goes on.

Rigo would be fat at 130, so Loma wins by default

Lomachenko tko 10. His footwork and angles are going to be too much for Rigondeaux.

Rigo is gonna rape Loma in a performance so rapey they'll call it Panchy.

  23. it's going to be workrate vs defense. Outcome depends upon which one the judges prefer....still going with Rigo by decision though

Loma has defense along with throwing more punches.

  27. He does. But Rigo is even more defensively sound

Rigo would get hit a lot more if he was as aggressive as hi tech.

You know the thing about a Rigo? He's some lifeless eyes, black eyes, like a dolls eyes. When you come at him, he doesn't seem to be livin... until he hits ya. Then those black eyes roll over white, and the whole ring turns red, and the counters come in... and tear ya to pieces.
