Let's face it: he's never been right up there at the top of the pile anyway, always made hard work of his fights against guys youve never heard of and basically Badou Jack ruined him...
If he gets the rematch then he HAS to win it. Lose and he might as well retire. Potential fights against Groves and Eubank still could happen but in all honesty I think DeGale is done.
I thought the Jack result was fair, he clearly lost this though, I had it much wider than the official scores.
He looked physically and mentally shot. He's clearly got no confidence in his right arm. I give him kudos, he's a tougher guy than I initially believed, but this Truax looked like a slightly bigger Lamont Peterson.
This is the guy some of you shit birds were claiming golovkin should have moved up to face thus forgoing one if not 2 paydays vs alvarez. Nice managerial acumen
yeah Degale is obviously as good now as he was when he beat dirrell for the title, you trisomic. And the claim was made at the time when it seems that Canelo had no intention of ever facing him.
I do think that DeGale is shot though but many will disagree. His next fight will tell us much more, but the signs were there to be seen. He should be dominating guys like this and winning inside the distance. There was no centre ring control, turning of his man, use of the jab and mix up of shots. He spent so much time backed up against the ropes. Awful performance.
For years DeFail's groupies claimed he only lost to Groves because he was green. When in fact, Groves is just a better fighter.
The James "Chunky" DeGale (AKA Cooky's cousin) will be the next p4p global superstar bandwagon: Slice N Dice, Hut*Hut, Jimmy, KaukipRrr, Jake Oh dear!
In all honesty, I was not even surprised about this result. I've always considered DeGale scrubby as. No idea how he managed to win a title, seriously.
In fairness, he used to be vastly superior to what he is now and has fought guys like Groves, Dirrell and JAck in competitive, close fights.
So he's only 2 years older than Lomachenko, only had 25 fights, not taken any bad beatings, but he's completely shot?
The most I can say for DeFail is that he had a lot of heart. Skill wise, he left a lot to be desired. I know there was once talks of him fighting Froch. Better for DeFail's health that he never fought Froch. The farmer would have beaten him up badly.
"Very good" is a big stretch. His bum ass had a brief prime at the perfect time. Froch and Kessler had both retired, Bute was shot, and Ward had moved up.
That's bollocks. I like Froch and he was a very good fighter, I'm not even saying DeGale would have won, but if you compare DeGale-Groves and Froch-Groves I, its clear DeGale would have given that Froch a good fight.
