There's Little REwatchability, but it Definitely WASN'T Boring as it Happened...

Unless You're Gonna Say You PREDICTED Rigondeaux Would Quit...

lol normally I wouldn't have cared but it was only a few posts before yours, not somewhere in the middle of the thread.

Obviously it would be a terrific win for Manny but his legacy is pretty much written. Without a list of names in front me he's probably top 20 or at least top 30. I don't know if a win against virtually anybody at this point could move him much more up.

REED Doesn't Recall Anyone Saying it Would BE Leonard-Duran I...

If REED's Not Mistaken, The "Aggregate Level of Skill/Talent" Would APPROACH Leonard-Duran I, is What was Stated...

I've only watched it one additional time. I think another thing that may have thrown Rigo off is Loma not committing to big punches. Usually defensive fighters are accustomed to their opponents loading up which makes them more vulnerable. Lomachenko never went for big shots, he just took what was available and didn't stray from it.

Lol. That was laziness on my part.

I hear you on your second point...but he's definitely top 20 surely...knocking on Top 10 I would think.

Yep. I don't know what's the best fight to compare it to but I think most people expected something more like Hearns-Benitez than Duran-Leonard.

As far as I recall, many predicted a close fight and some a one sided win for Rigo. But Musze is the only one I recall who predicted an easy win for Loma. I could be wrong though and probably am.

It's not really about whether he's way above Floyd or not. I happen to think that both guys are top 10 material based on accomplishments.

That's horribly insulting to dogs. Dogs are unbelievably courageous animals that fight to the death. They're as tough as it gets.

When someone says "He's got some dog in him" I take it to mean "He's tough as fuck, and has on quit in him".

Yeah, he was dropped in fights that he was otherwise dominating. That's COMPLETELY different than dealing with adversity in a fight you're clearly losing.

Saturday night was a classic example of front runner 101.

I can't believe Rigo felt sorry for himself. I didn't think he was the type.

I think Rigo's quitting had more to do with pride than, "dog." Not saying it is any less pathetic. May be worse. I think his ego just couldn't endure getting beaten like that. So he wasn't saying to himself, "man those punches hurt. I have to save myself." He was saying, "man, this guy is making me look like a fool. I cannot allow this."

Agreed. That's not something he's come close to experiencing in gazillion fights between both the amateur and pro's.

Agreed. It was a pride thing...plus when the point was deducted he said "fuck it".

i am pretty sure he quit because he realized he had zero chance to win. he wasnt able to land any clean shots with his left hand thru 6 rounds and figured things were only going to get rougher. at that point he decided he had already been paid so lets call it a day.

Yeah the hand injury excuse doesn't seem to be flying. And it wasn't like Rigo was taking a brutal beating. He was as Double L pointed, getting embarassed. Humiliated. Laughed at.

And he just couldn't handle it. Rigo essentially pulled a "no mas." And I don't see Rigo getting another shot at the big time anymore. I hope he's been wise with his money. He's 37, not marketable, not entertaining to watch, and his 0 is gone.

I fully expect him to fade into bolivion now.

Ving Rhames was sitting near his corner and told him "Fuck pride" before taking a large bite of his gigantic Arby's sandwich

He wasn't marketable before. Now he's completely fucked. Good riddance.
