I actually like Will Smith, buddy cop movies and surpringly, kicks to the thorax (giving not receiving) however, I see the point you were making.

 

I mean it's just a terrible, terrible movie.

Saw it Friday night. My wife LOOOVED it..... but that's not saying much, her movie taste is for shit! Personally, I agree with the consensus.... it was God Awful.

The truth is... like 90% of all Will's movies are shit.

At one point, he was hyped as the black Tom Cruise, but there's no comparison.

Most Cruise movies are quality, and some are great.

Will Smith has NEVER been in a great movie and never will be.

Quite possibly the most overrated actor to ever live.

 

Will smith is an annoying twat. I have to admit that I enjoyed Independence Day, enemy of the state, I am legend and the men in black series...but my enjoyment had nothing to do with Smith’s performances....in fact smith was always the weak link in those films

 

To me Will Smith is Fresh Prince. PERIOD. It's not even that I type casted him it's just as far his acting goes (in my eyes at least) Independence day? Fresh Prince fighting aliens!
Hitch? Fresh Prince helping a fat guy get laid.
Hancock? Fresh Prince is a super hero!
Etc. Etc. Etc.
And whenever he tries to portray a serious role.. he just has a sad look on his face 24/7....and I'm like why is Fresh Prince so sad?

But overall it's the same shit. He's the cool guy, saying the cool lines and kicking ass. It's like his contracts come with a minimum of cool/cheesy lines quota. I just find it boring and predictable.

I don’t see him as the Fresh Prince and I’m sure most don’t either. Truth is you guys can shit on Will Smith all you want but the funny thing is while y’all sit and negatively criticize his very existence y’all have watched most of his films and continue to do so with Bright.

Every film lead is the cool guy who tells the jokes and kicks ass, be it Denzel, Cruise or Stallone. Here’s the thing though, not every actor has the charisma to pull off that cool guy and be successful at it. Sam Worthington couldn’t do it, Taylor Kitsch couldn’t and a whole lot of other actors who were given leading role vehicles failed to capture an audience the way Smith did.

Maybe y’all should try to appreciate the guy or at least appreciate the many good films and performances he gave in the past instead of crapping all over his recent failures or overexposure; which ever it is.

Danzel pulls off cool great. Smith not at all. Even though he's 50 he still comes off as a goofy frat boy and not a bad ass.

Saw it last night. Not as bad as the critics are saying and not as good as the Netflix groupies are saying. Certainly not any worse then most of the Marvel dreck being pumped out. It will be forgotten in a month however.

Heavy handed, Ham handed, silly and somehow over-serious at the same time. The Directer David Ayers is essentially the second coming of Antoine Fuqua to me. His films and trailers are slick and look like they should be better then they actually are..................but they somehow have no depth and all his characters seem to be mostly 1 Dimensional.

Will Smith is fine in it. Silly to think any other actor would have elevated this material to a higher level.

Lastly, I guarantee you Netflix is fine with how this turned out. Good or bad, all the talk behind this movie likely got it a ton of views. I most likely would never have even watched it, if all the bad press didn't make me at least a little bit curious about it.

Will is fine. Never understood the shit he got. So he's not Denzel. Neither are 99.9% of actors out there. So what if his kid is a nonce. Most teenagers are nonces.

 

Denzel and Smith have nothing in common...so I don't know why people are even bringing him into the discussion.

 

If people want to liken black actors to other black actors for the sake of it, then Idris is the one to take over Denzel's mantle and Will Smith will be replaced with Michael B Jordan.

 

How about Mahershala Ali? He is the most promising black actor imo.

 

If Hollywood somehow gives him some backing.
He's been around a while and still can' get a big break-through...

Idris is a very talented actor, and has a decent amount of charisma, but Denzel has that very very RARE charisma and screen precence that just dominates the screen.

But Idris has more acting ability in one of his nuts that the big eared, Philly faggot has in his whole body.

 

Idris is like Sam Jackson. He struggled for a long time early in his career, so he'll do almost anything now, as long as he gets paid for it. He'll get solid work the rest of his life, but it will be tough for him to get to Blockbuster lead status when he's not really picky about what he does.

Wrong. Smith was the one because like Denzel Smith was a top tier box office draw and leading actor which Ibris will likely never be. There were really only two guys who compared to Smith IMO on style of film, box office success and era and that was Cruise and Denzel and that was why I made the comparison not because of skin color.

Also I’m not sure MBJ has the charisma to capture audiences the way Smith does. You guys are all just biased Smith haters and every point y’all are making is opinionated.

I liked seeing Orcs, Elves and other creatures in a modern day New York.
I liked the fantasy aspect in a buddy cop movie. Great action scenes, gangs etc. I liked the complete package. Good and original movie.
