Lists time, baby! Name the films you consider were the best you watched on 2017. Don't add any critics darling art film you have not watched nor never will. Just the ones you did watched and thought were great. I'll have to think hard since there weren't that many outstanding films that I watched these past 12 months. Mostly Netflix crap, but I'll make a list later.

Brawl in Cell Block 99 was the best movie I've seen this year by leaps and bounds.

DC has produced some shitty movies, but WW isn't one of them. It is a really good movie.

I haven't watched many 2017 films. The ones I enjoyed the most are Logan and Get Out.

Wonder Woman started off great but the final act was cheesy.

think i've only seen thirteen 2017 movies so far -

    best:
    get out
    the big sick
    silence
    trainspotting 2

    good, but not the best:
    i daniel blake
    spiderman homecoming
    guardians 2
    paddington 2

    passable:
    logan

    poor:
    wonder woman
    beauty & the beast
    wolf warrior 2
great wall (china hasn't yet worked out how to make good action movies)

4 of the 13 are superhero movies.... just so easy to drop into them - you already know the settings & the characters

The ending wasn't strong, but the rest was good. Very good imo.

I'm in the same boat. I really haven't watched a tremendous amount of 2017 movies. But as far as Logan and Get Out goes, I found BOTH to be extremely overrated.

Wonder Woman was boring AF, I don't care what anybody says!

I have yet to see War for the Planet of the Apes, but I already know it's a lot better than some piece of shit Logan/Wonder Woman.

[edit: i originally replied saying that Get Out was excellent, & will be remembered as an iconic contirbution to contemporary social issues. but then i realised how silly it is for a white british guy to be preaching to a black american guy that a movie is an iconic contirbution to the issue of being black in modern western society.]

Funny thing is, I agree with you that "Get Out" is overrated, but of the 2017 films that I've actually seen it's still in the top 2 for me. Logan is polarizing. My brother, for example, HATES that film. I happened to love watching his daughter kick ass

Wonder woman had TWO great sequences and then the rest was boring shit. The opening 45 mins on paradise Island was great. The sequence when she charged into battle against a host of guns was great. That was it.

If I have enough time this weekend, I'll probably make it a priority to watch War for TPOTA. I hear it's excellent, and I believe the hype.

DC and Marvel can both suck a dick!

2017 was a horrible year as most of the films were so uninteresting. I think that the best two films I watched (of the few I did) were two low budget dramas: 'Our Souls at Night" with Jane Fonda & Robert Redford and 'The Homesman" a western with Tommy Lee Jones, Hillary Swank & Meryl Streep.

Of the others, not much to rave about but I was entertained:

    Split
    Wonder Woman
    Thor: Ragnarok
    Beauty & the Beast
    Baby Driver
    Kong: Skull Island

I want to watch 'The Florida Project' as it was filmed in my town and has been tagged as one of the year's best.

No wonder you people still drive on the wrong side of the road if you don't even know what year you live in.

watched this today. it's interesting because it's a post-trump movie, basically about the white working class "forgotten man". it's basically a b movie - pure cliche & gratuitous violence, but it gets pushed so far that it's actually kinda daring.

not the best movie of any year, & doesn't match up to silence, get out, or the big sick, but it's good just for its originality

Finished watching Logan hands down the best Wolverine film and one of the best films of 2017. Why couldn't Luke Skywalker had a noble heroic death like that? going down like a badass hero til the last breath.
