Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Trailer/Discussion

Star Wars: The Last Jedi took again the #1 spot for the end of the year four day holiday weekend at the tune of $68.4 million with a current domestic of total of $533 million and in the process surpassing the magical $1 billion total global.

Will the next two SW films reach these numbers after the fan backlash this one got? That 'Solo' one-stand alone film has not released a single photo, let alone a trailer and is just five months away from its release. The rumors is that the film is in a big shit spot right now, even with Ron Howard trying to salvage the mess after its two directors were fired in mid shooting. One of the rumors is that the lead actor sucks in this role and should have been replaced. Now is kind of too late as the studio can't afford a THIRD re-shooting schedule as the budget has already inflated way too much already. Ron Howard is a good director, but this is not his genre (remember 'Willow'?).

 

Basically, end this overrated francise already.

Have their studios ended the shitty Transformers or Fast & Furious franchises? No, because they make A LOT of money. Same with SW. As long as they keep making lots of money & selling toys we will always have them.

 

Fast & Furious are usually pretty good entertainment pieces.
I think maybe three of them, including the utterly shit Tokyo Drift that Twanthomy likes have gotten bad reviews.

Transformers has been consistently shit throughout.

 

In its fourth week SW: The Last Jedi had a 68% drop from the previous week and fell fro #1 to third place with $23.7 million. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle accomplished a rare feat of becoming the top grosser film in its third week of release taking $37.2 million and in the process crossing the $500 million mark worldwide. Insidious: The Last Key had the biggest debut of the franchise with $29.7 million. While "The Last Jedi" grossed $1.2 billion globally, becoming 2017 most profitable film, it opened to a disappointing numbers in China with $28.7 million which is lower than 'Rogue One" $30 million and even more lower "The Force Awakens" $52 million. It all points that the SW franchise has dwindling appeal in that profitable country.

 

Yup. It makes the Phantom Menace look like a masterpiece.

 

They are tarnishing the Star Wars legacy.

 

It's become an overrated franchise anyway.

What you say about Solo is true though. I read that the studio is already prepared for it to flop. They also had to bring in an acting coach for the guy in the lead role and I think they’re afraid to release the trailer so soon after all the negative criticism that’s come with TLJ.

 

Franchise is ruined now. The director ruined the set up of TFA. We should have seen Kylo Ren resume his training with Snoke. We should have had more snoke. Kylo Ren now had a reason to wear the mask and be the new Vader. Rey’s backstory should have been revealed to be a very interesting one. Luke should have gone out like Kenobi in a confrontation with Kylo ren. Rey and Kyle should have had a lightsaber battle. Instead we got half of movie on some casino planet with race dinosaurs and pretentious people which did nothing to further the plot and in fact turned out to be a wild goose chase to no end.

 

You must have been very young when you watched Willow. I watched it with my brother & my 6 year old nephew. Only the boy loved the film. We thought it was a shitty LOTR rip-off with decent special effects.

As for the SOLO film, Disney should move its release date to Xmas. Otherwise it is going to be buried by 'Infinity War', 'Deadpool 2', "The Incredibles 2" and "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" just to name a few it will be competing against to.

 

And we never knew who the heck was Snoke and how he rose to power nor how come Rey is so freaking powerful in the Force without getting any proper training (Luke just gave her two lessons). And since when a ghost Jedi can summon lightning to destroy trees like ghost Yoda did?

more time that passes, more i look back and find the last jedi shitty. Could be all the negative reviews, but in all of them (the ones i read), the criticisms are valid.

 

At this moment I prefer the prequel trilogy to The Last Jedi. That's how much I hate it.

 

Shall I just watch this movie to see how bad it is?

 

After this I hope the next installment bombs.

 

Dude: Kathleen Kennedy is the freaking culprit here. She is the one who greenlights everything and since she took the reigns of Lucasfilm we have been treated to Feminist SJW PC bullshit. The Force Awakens, Rogue One and The Last Jedi has increased those elements with each succeeding film sacrificing storyline and saga canon aspects. She has admitted in interviews that she wanted SW to have female leads out of some sort of agenda to balance the need for female heroes. Why introduce a new female, Admiral Holdo, to die an heroic death by lightspeed crash her ship when they could have brought fan favorite Admiral Ackbar to do the same? He could have yelled "ITS A TRAP!" as his final words and die memorably (instead he died of-camera like a second thought scene). JJ Abrams is a competent filmmaker, but according to hardcore fans, he has single handlely ruined both Star Trek & Star Wars franchises. It was Kennedy the one who hired him and she also hired Rian Johnson.

 

I might watch the "Solo" film, but Episode 9? REDBOX rental or free streaming torrent! I have ZERO desire to find out 'will Finn pick Rey or Rose?'"Will Kylo & Rey become lovers?" All that SHIT is borderline TWILIGHT girlie crap!
