Jermain Taylor springs to mind, even though I never viewed him as elite. Many did, though. If Hopkins wasn't so spooked at the size and power of Taylor, he could have either stopped him or won a clear decision with no controversy. Evander Holyfield has to be mentioned. At least in his earlier heavyweight days. Bowe, even at his best was atrocious, defensively.
Carter was a low level contender who go lucky against a great fighter who jumped up too quick without gaining enough weight ... if he'd fought Emile 1000 times, he'd lose 999 times
Cdogg is selling Carter a bit short. The guy was a bit one dimensional, but he was a murderous puncher with fast hands. If he was around today 100% he would have at least picked up a belt or two at 154-160.
Well that's no big accomplishment... today is shite Carter for his era was a pretender... he had one shot and got schooled ... basically he could punch If Gatti and Mayorga are laughable nominees for this thread, then Carter clearly is
Ummm... based on the fact he iced an all time great. Fluke or not, the queer still got stretched. Da fuck Gatti and Mayorga ever do?
Whoa whoa whoa! When the Hell did I ever say Carter was "great?" Definitely not. But he was more than a scrub.. which puts him a level above Gatti and Mayorga.
Btw, Douglas win over Tyson obliterates anything Gatti or Mayorga ever did. And Buster was miles better than both those punching bags.
Youre selling mayorga short. Guy gave hell to 2 great fighters in mosley and cotto, and beat a few solids ones. He was far from a scrub
