The opposite of Sly's thread Alexis Arguello Sal Sanchez Tommy Hearns Jose Napoles 4 fighters almost universally liked on fightbeat
Id say sanchez. Not that i dislike him, but i think his death made him a bit overrated. But as you said, how could you not like these guys
Maybe because he is the least recent one, but of the guys on the list, I'm the least familiar with napoles' work (seen a couple of his fights). As a result, he is at the bottom for me of this short list of greats.
"He's a good fighter and damned sure a better fighter than Curtis Cokes" -Cokes after absorbing a terrible beating in the rematch
I really can't answer, because I don't dislike any of them. However, Sanchez is the only one of the four who's one of my all time favorites. Arguello isn't one of my all time favorites, however, I'd definitely consider myself a fan. Hearns is probably my least favorite of the Fab 4, which is not to say I dislike Tommy, not at all. I'm just a big fan of Duran, Hagler, and Leonard, and kind of indifferent about Tommy - but I guess I can be considered a semi-fan. Same with Napoles - GREAT GREAT fighter, a joy to watch, but he's not among my all time favorites.
Pryor is probably the most universally liked fighter on Fightbeat. Tyson is loved on this forum also, which is kind of the opposite of most forums where it's 50-50 Tyson groupies/haters.
Napoles' Name Didn't Come Up Often (as You Can Probably Imagine ), but Even when it Did, REED Can't Say he Heard Mr. Cokes Say Anything Bad About Him... Nor Did he Ever Make Excuses or Diminish Napoles' Victories, as the Quote McDogg Posted Illustrates... REED
I've said it before, but Napoles-Cokes 1 has a good arguement for being the single most impressive masterclass performance ever. Napoles was offensive poetry in motion in that fight.
Haha maybe you should try to force feed him excuses. "You sure you didn't time your coffee incorrectly?"
Not sure. Certainly not Arguello, though. I have his systematic destruction of Jim Watt on DVD, my phone and my laptop. It cheers me up every time I have to suffer that fool's commentary on SKY. MTF
Arguello was a 126-140 pound Joe Louis ... slower hands but the same gorgeous technique ... power punching as an art form
The weird thing with arguelle, is that he was slow most of the time, but once in a while he would throw a super fast and hard right hand
I'd say Napoles, which is no knock on him at all. I've just more repeatedly watched the fights of the other 3.
