My beef with calling leicester the biggest sport upset ever, is that winning the premier is not the pinnacle of Football/Soccer, while the olympics were (I guess it's arguable since pro's weren't allowed, but the soviet team was as good as Canada pro team at the time)

    True ... that's a fair point

But you could argue that Football is by far the world's most played organized sport so the Premier League being one of the 3 or 4 most elite leagues in the planet makes their achievement comparable

Anyways, Fan Man HAS to Be the Answer...

Dude Flying Around the Vegas Strip, Landing on the Ropes/Ring Apron, Interrupting a Heavyweight Championship Fight???...

If That Played Out in a Boxing Movie, Purists Would Label the Film the “Worst Piece of Crap Ever”, Based on the IMPROBABILITY of Such a Thing Occuring...

claiming that a 4-1 under winning is one of the most improbable moment in boxing is distorting history. You should heed your own advice and look at the definition of distort, cause even though english is you first language, your knowledge of it is rudimentary

Also, winning a championship of a league is more difficult than winning a tournament. A team playing in 'flow' can surprise bigger teams in single games but to keep it up all season is remarkable.

While that's true there is less pressure because there is no such thing as an elimination game in table format. You can afford to recover after a bad result.

Still, personally I would go with the Fan Man as the event that has been the least expected of them all in boxing.

Ron Borges or a cunt like him will always pick any upset result, even Mike Tyson's snapping could have been foreseeable.

But if you were to make a list of 'hundred unexpected things that could halt a championship boxing match', nobody still would have thought of a parachuting lunatic

This is true, but IMO adding pressures to the equation helps the weaker team more than the favorite, making the surprise bit more possible.

Also, Miracle On Ice was a mini-league and not an elimination tournament. In fact, beating Soviets didn't secure the gold for USA

By the way, I maintain to this day that fan man prevented Holyfield from knocking Bowe out. Bowe was fading fast and was trying his last effort when all hell broke loose. That’s what pissed me off so much about fan man. I hated Bowe and rock Newman and wanted him knocked the fuck out.

4-1, 3-1, 7-1, Make Up Your Fucking Mind...You're All Over the Road...

Regardless What the Odds Were, There Isn't a SINGLE Person Who Experienced Ali-Foreman w/the Proper CONTEXT or PERSPECTIVE, Who Would Classify that Win as Anything OTHER than Improbable...

REED HAS that Perspective and Context and Can ASSURE You he's Not Distorting Shit..."When We Were Kings" Speaks @ LENGTH About This...

“The time may have come to say goodbye to Muhammad Ali, because very honestly, I don’t think he can beat George Foreman,” said Cosell a few weeks before the fight took place.

The New York Times agreed with Cosell.

“Ali will be out in the first round,” they wrote.

“George could hurt him badly,” said the novelist Budd Schulberg.

On fight night, former light heavyweight champion Archie Moore worried about Ali’s health.

“I was praying, and in great sincerity, that George wouldn’t kill Ali,” recalled Moore in The Fight, Norman Mailer’s eyewitness account of the match. “I really felt that was a possibility.”

The Bottom Right Corner of the Photo FAMOUSLY Depicts the Level of Shock and Awe George Plimpton and Norman Mailer (2 Writers w Who Knew and Covered Ali EXTENSIVELY) Had, Witnessing Foreman's Fall from Grace...

This is Fucking Muhammad Ali, ALREADY the Most Well Known Athlete on the Planet at the Time...Nonetheless, 2 Men who KNEW Him Intimately were in DISfuckingBELIEF...

The People REED Quoted had NO Vested Interest in SELLING the Fight or MINIMIZING Ali's Chances for Any Benefit...

    Again, REED DIDN'T "Distort" Shit...

But This is All LOST on You, Because You've Clearly Adopted mikE's CONTRARIAN Schtick, and Added Doses of Perpetually UNimpressed Postings to Back it Up...mikE's Shit was LAME as Is, but it's Even Worse Being PARROTED by You, Dude...

Lol, there is not a single odd for a fight. different bookies have different odds, Weird that I have to explain this to you since you've been following boxing for a long time.

You choose to believe in all the hooplah, carefully chosen anecdotal evidences and ''When we were kings'' hype that surround that fight, but odds at the time prove that hwile it was a 'major' upset it's far from one of the biggest upset in the sport. The fact that you cling to this stupid belief while I gave you factual proof that you are mistaken, shows me all I need to know.

And LOL at using that pic as some kind of proof. Pretty much everytime there is a ko in a high profile fight, people at ringside have the same expression

A fight between two fighters that elite in an all time sense at or near their primes with an opening round like that is almost unheard of ... it's pretty insane

    And you'd be right.

But 'weird' and 'absurd' aren't adjectives used in this forum title.
