The styles matchup well for Floyd against Starling for several reasons. For one, Starling was more effective against guys who came at him, and we know Floyd ain't doing that. For two, Starling wasn't particularly tall for a welter... I believe the same height as Floyd.

Having said that, Starling gives Floyd a lot of problems, and pushes him close... but we know that Floyd gets the benefit of the doubt in a close fight.

 

I think Magic Man gives Floyd a frustrating fight with his high defense and trickery but ultimately Floyd does better work and is hit far less and wins an 8-4 type decision

 

Mayweather via close decision.

Awkward fight for Money May, but Starling's tendency to stand around and pose would cost him. He'd get the job done with cleaner punching.

 

Starling would come into the ring at around 160 lbs yet he would try to beat Floyd via stink. So, in a fight he should win, he winds up losing a close controversial decision

 

I thnk Starling has a great chance, and I would probably pick him. I can't forget that PBF barely got past a past it DLH who was trying to be cute.

Basically what Sly forgets or conveniently omits from his 'Mayweather Expectations' in these matchups is that, whatever 'stipulations' Sugar Ray Leonard suggested to Marvellous Marvin Hagler (and yes, he agreed to) in their one fight in 1987.....Mayweather and his team of sycophants have done for the last ten fights of his career....

I'd pick Starling here. I saw nothing of Mayweather at 147 to suggest he'd beat Marlon, who was literally MILES better than everyone Mayweather beat at 147.

You picked Hatton to beat Mayweather. So you have zero credibility where picking against Mayweather is concerned. You’d pick your grandmother to beat him if she put on a pair of gloves.

 

Yeah yeah. Everyone beats mayweather apparently. Had Floyd not fought Pacquiao, de la Hoya, Canelo, cotto those guys would have beaten him too.

 

Fact is, none of those guys would stand for any Mayweather/Elherbe bullshit fight-stipulations allowing him the clear extra advantages he´s has over almost 60% of his opposition.
Starling, in particular would go through him like he did his fuckin Dad.

 

I think Simon Brown was a bit too slow to beat Floyd.

Norris definitely beats Floyd.

 

I tend to think Norris beats Floyd also...bad style matchup for Floyd considering Norris' natural size advantage. I don't recall though seeing Starling beat Norris.

 

For a guy that retired unbeaten in 50 fights and won titles in 5 weight classes over HOF competition, Floyd sure is beatable.
