I would have stopped at 140. It's far more interesting at that weight because tbh, both guys peaked at 140.

I'd take the 05 Floyd over the 89 Taylor by competitive, yet deserved decision.

Taylor's handspeed would have given Floyd HELL, but the problem is he can't seriously hurt Floyd.

On the flip side, Floyd's handspeed at 140 was still excellent and he could THINK a lot faster than Taylor, who did not have the ring IQ to match his talent.

Close fight, but Floyd wins by countering effectively and landing cleaner and more often.

I think it'd be a very exciting fight though. Because Taylor lacked big pop, Floyd wouldn't be scared to fight him in the pocket.

Floyd wins because he was far more elusive, and tougher. Distance fight but Taylor gets hit way more than Floyd on route to a close but clear decision win

    Mayweather via UD.

He'd have his problems, though. Difference is the ring IQ as pointed out above. Floyd would make those adjustments to the speed of Taylor and he'd out think him down the stretch and take the fight with those accurate counters of his.

The Taylor that whitewashed Superman Davis is still an interesting fight against Floyd at WW

Who did Mayweather ever face with handspeed equal to that of Taylor?

    Please, no!
You´ll start the idiot off on all the amazing attributes that Mayweather fans love to bring to an argument -´toughness´ being one of so many superlatives he supposedly deserves.

You see Meldrick Taylor surviving a 154lb De La Hoya or Canelo?

Pbf had a better defense. That does not make him tougher.

Floyd has never been officially dropped by a punch.

Besides the statistic though we saw that motherfucker trade punches in the pocket with a prime Castillo while nursing a damaged left shoulder. We saw him trade bombs with Cotto in rounds 7 and 8. We saw him hit HARD by Mosley only to have Shane retreating just a few seconds later. He's taken punches from Oscar, Judah, Canelo, Maidana...and never been close to being stopped. Taylor, by contrast was always a little vulnerable.

The fact that Julio Cesar Chavez pit him into hospital for how long?
Broken orbital, fractured ribs and swallowed God knows how much blood from multiple cuts....and he was still on his feet until that final, heinous punch in the 12th.

Yeah he epitomizes 'tough' in a way you tend to dream of Mayweather being, halfwit.

Dr Dr. Flip Homansky, who examined Taylor after the fight, said, “Over 12 rounds, Meldrick suffered a facial fracture of the orbital bone, he was urinating blood, has lost nearly 2 pints of blood, his face was grotesquely swollen…this was a kid who was truly beaten up to the face, the body, and the brain.”

Yeah, that's some Mayweather-esque 'toughness' right there...

taking a horrendous beating doesn't mean you're tougher than anyone else...because if that were the case Benny Kid Paret is tougher than any fighter alive today. Ya cunt.

Mayweather would've thrown the towel in at Rd7 in that situation
    (not his corner...but he, himself).
Not that Mayweather would even entertain the idea of stepping in a ring with a 140 Chavez.

Basically, you've been raped again over a Mayweather Mythical Matchup.

Taylor brings more handspeed than Pacquiao, more output than Castillo and it's a Taylor win over 12....unless Mayweather's team move the goalposts, pre-fight.

    You know nothing.

You make an outlandish statement without any precedent or facts to back it up. Floyd has never quit.

He was too good to be subjected to a situation where he was beaten up. It's not like he only fought patsy's. Corrales was a guy that broke bones etc. Castillo was a tough motherfucker, hatton was stopping guys like Tzsyu and Castillo, Mosley and De La Hoya were beating up Margarito and Mayorga, Canelo was knocking out most opponents....Floyd fought them and avoided harm. Occasionally he slugged it out with them just to show that he could if he wanted to.

Yeah I'm not saying he avoided tough opponents per se.
I'll accept that Castillo, Judah and Hatton were good fights for him at that stage of his career...but imo, Taylor had enough combination of speed and volume to stylistically cause Mayweather to make too many adjustments to win a clear points decision.

Nobody said he was not. The question is, is he tougher than Mel Taylor?

So now we're having to define 'toughness' in boxing?
