    Wilder KO 4...

And Afterwards, the Same People Hating On Him and/or Predicting an Ortiz Win Will STILL Claim Wilder "Hasn't Fought Anybody"....

Wilder May Have to Climb Off the Deck to Do it, but he's Toooo FRESH, Toooo VIBRANT, Tooooo ATHLETIC for Ortiz....

The Ortiz from five years ago I'd pick with a fair amount of confidence. Wilder is shit, he really is, and a younger Ortiz would have plenty of chances to make him look like an oaf. Now, I think Wilder catches him with something big, and ends it. Wilder is garbage, but that big daft cunt can punch. There is no question about that. And I think that's enough, here.

    Wilder wins.

He knows how to land his punches, and when he does, he hurts people.

I know that is a wrong way to win fights if you look clumsy while doing it, but it is enough here.

Ortiz hasn't looked good since the Jennings bout, though it is difficult to look good against spoilers

This is odd. The guy should talk the talk and embrace violence, yet at the same time be humble and denigrate himself?

I think Wilder truly believes he would beat Tyson, and as a fighter he SHOULD think that. The fact that it is probably false has no bearing. An ambitious fighter needs self-confidence

  6. You are conflating two issues here.

Yes, Wilder should talk the talk and embrace violence and believe he can beat all of his peers. Self confidence is key. But he should maintain respect for the greats, especially since he hasn’t proven much as yet. If he were an undisputed champion or beat many champions, as Tyson was and did then he’d have a right to say such s thing (although it’ll still be false)

It wasn't just Tyson. Wilder said he would beat any heavyweight in history.

I find Wilder's "confidence" to be a joke. Probably a cover-up for the fact that he's NOT as confident as he tries ti project.

Spence, Crawford, and Loma are three fighters I can think of who have a LEGIT self confidence. But you don't see Spence, and Crawford randomly saying that they would destroy Leonard, and Robinson.

Wilder made the Tyson statement for attention... because he's been on the scene for years now and the mainstream still don't know who the fuck he is. So he thinks "Lemme go say I'd destroy a prime Tyson. That'll get people talkin."

I believe Ali did some bragging too, before proving himself

Ugo simply craves being a contrarian sometimes.

Wilder's statement about Mike didn't exude confidence imo. A confident statement would have been "Mike was a very dangerous fighter, but i believe I have to the tools to beaten him."

OK cool. Fans can live with that statement, even if they disagree. But "Ohhh I'd destroy him!" Just comes across as Lavar Ball type hyperbole.... a guy just talking out of his ass for attention.

Ugo is right with the Ali thing though, he talked mad shit about Joe Louis.

  11. Sure, but correct me if I'm wrong, Ali only started suggesting that he was "the greatest" AFTER he had beaten Sonny Liston. Liston was the undisputed champion and had proven himself with two first round wins over Patterson, the former champion. Ali, then Clay, had beaten Liston with consummate ease even after getting linament in his eyes. At that point he had the right to brag as he had shown the potential to be the best ever. Even Joe Louis at ringside for that fight was super impressed.

Wilder, however, hasn't proven shiiiiiiiit. His best win was against Bermane Stiverne.

No, fuck no. I don't try to be a contrarian here or rarely ever.

I am just pointing out that Wilder isn't doing anything exceptional here, he gets shit because people don't like him (which is understandable enough).

Criticism towards him because he is a bad fighter is ok. Criticism because a fighter talks crap is weird

Ali did enter the ring wearing a crown. Where do you draw the line?

This post makes no fuckin sense.

So you're saying that it's understandable why people dislike him, but it's not right to criticize his having a bad big? Huh????? People dislike him BECAUSE he has a big mouth! That's the only reason!

That's like you saying you understand why people don't like Broner, but you don't understand criticizing the things he says. It makes no sense.

I draw my line at comparing a bum like Wilder to Ali in the first place.

Acting like he is the only loudmouth trying to sell a fight is what I think is weird.

And the fact that you think I am comparing Wilder to Ali shows that you are talking about different thing

For me, if your gonna be a loud mouth, you better have the ability to back it up, and you'd better be willing to face the best guys. It shouldn't take you being a pro for over 10 years to finally do that.

To say what he said about Mike Tyson or any other heavyweight comes off insincere and appears to be compensation for the deep insecurity he has about his own talents.

Wilder simply tries too hard. And it makes him totally unlikeable.

    Exactly

  19. I guess maybe there’s a slight double standard. Ali was handsome, charming, funny, was a poet and a prophet and moved like a welterweight and original..so basically I give him a pass. Also I don’t recall him saying that he was better than Louis or Marciano before he beat Liston.

Ali also never said dumb shit like "I'm half-human, half-hybrid", but then is anybody actually good at trash talking anymore anyway?

Agreed (though I kind of like Wilder, even if I don't think he's very good). I don't think most of us would mind if Wilder said those things if he had cleared his division, or even if he was a young guy coming up. But fact is, he's in his 30's, 10 years in his career, yet has only faced garbage oppositions (and yes, I do now it's not all of its fault).

To answer the last question... not really. This new generation of fighters are fucking TERRIBLE at trash talking.

Toney was the last truly great trash talker we had.

  23. Ugotabe Kidding

Ugotabe Kidding WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

Still not to be a contrarian, I think Toney is pretty much the one who started the downfall. Whereas Ali was witty and had some self-irony included and even Tyson was personal as a trash-talker, Toney said stuff like 'I'm gonna rape your momma' which is simply unimaginative.

Although I must add, Toney saying 'Don King can kiss my ass' on live television is among the greatest things any fighter has ever done

I liked Naz, for the most part it was usually tongue-in-cheek and pretty funny. He crossed the line in the McCullough build-up and was a bit of a cunt by the end of his career, but I liked the banter with Kelley.

In combat sports currently he’s undisputed #1.

I prefer Fury's trash talk to McGregor's because it's more genuine. McGregor's a fake thug faggot... Fury doesn't pretend to be someone he's not.

What happened with McGregor and that Irish cartel? Has he got a bounty on his head or something?
