According to Freddie Roach, Horn will last "1 round" only. I'll be generous and give him a few more. Mandalay Bay, WBO welterweight title.
Never before has a bum rose to fame based on the strength of a gift decision. "Ohhh, but hes so awkward and tough!" His fans say. He's a fuckin palooka, shut up. I say TC needs 4 rounds to adjust to the new weight... after that it's target practice. Crawford in 9 or 10.
Horn is in this for the money for sure, apparently it's a roughly $4m deal for him. Not bad for a guy that was fighting for $5k purses not more than a year ago, lives in an asbestos shack and drives a 1986 Toyota Camry. Assuming he doesn't look completely stupid (no guarantees), follow it up with a couple of gatekeeper type fights with other top guys, then call it a day and finally upgrade to that latest Toyota Camry - perhaps even a hybrid model.
Top rank. Lol. Manufacturer of opponents. Rather than work with another promoter to make a meaningful fight, TR would rather fix a fight and create an opponent out of thin air.
Exactly. All part of Bob's plan. Because Pac didn't wanna fight Crawford, Bob knew from the jump he would fix the scoring of Pac-Horn so he could set up Crawford-Horn.
Looks like this on ESPN and not PPV. Good! Should generate very good ratings and enhance Crawford's popularity.
I am no Crawford fan, but I hope he does beat the absolute shit out of Horn. Horn is a cunt. Not only did Manny get robbed, but the way Horn fought a legend in Pacquiao was fucking disgraceful, not only all the headbutts but going as far as to lace Pacquiao? An utter cunt. I hope he gets his face rearranged beyond recognition. "Arr feeyil lark ah winnah!"
Wow those punch stats are devastating to any claim that Horn legitimately won that fight. Is there anyone who actually believes he did?
Just as they Did in Pac-Bradley I... It’s a Shame Manny’s tooooo GULLIBLE to Call Top Rank on their Bullshit... REED
Rather than getting a new Camry, Horn should buy one a couple of years old with low miles. He'll save money because of the depreciation and still have lots of warranty left.
This... REED Doesn’t Typically Rely On Punchstats, But Every Now and Then they FULLY Illustrate the ABSURDITY of a Particular Verdict... REED
I did some looking around and came across this 2016 in New South Wales that Horn may want to have a gander at. 2016 Toyota Camry Altise Auto $18,990 and it's got less than 30 thousand kilometers.
Yep, exactly. I know punchstats can be a little off sometimes, but THAT off? Nah. I think they generally tell the story of the fight tbh, at least 9 times out of 10 the legitimate winner will have the appropriate advantage in compubox stats. Not really sure why some boxing fans are all "oh compubox z, z, so inaccurate z". I find them to be plenty accurate enough, at least enough to get an idea of who was the rightful winner. And in regards to that fight in particular? I think some people have a very misguided view of the fight because Horn bullied Manny around the ring, outwrestled him, and roughed him up. But you see, it's not an MMA match or wrestling match, it's a boxing match, and Manny landed far more shots therefore winning the fight clearly.
No doubt. I was watching the fight with some friends and the general reaction was "Well at least Horn didn't get knocked out, that's something", followed by "WTF" at the actual decision.
I saw it. This is easy pickings for Craw History proves that a slight size advantage means nothing when the talent/skill disparity is astronomical.
I think Compubox tells some of the story, not all. But be that as it may, I don't even think we needed Compubox for that one. Unless we count Horn's roughhouse and dirty tactics, landed virtually no meaningful punches. He was outclassed by even a SHOT Pacquiao. But I think X hit the nail on the head. Manny doesn't wanna fight Crawford. Arum is pissed off, of course. So he fixes the fight to get Crawford a shot at a 147 pound belt. This is typical Arum behavior. Now we get the pleasure to see Crawford slap Horn around. I'll be pleased.
Yeah I agree with pretty much all that. It took me a while to realise why people hate Arum. I think I always thought he was alright partly because appearances are deceptive. He kind of appears to be nicer and more gently spoken etc than your average boxing promoter, but he's an utter fucking snake no doubt. Skanking your own fighter, especially a legend and the most popular fighter on your roster? It's fucking mental. Both the Bradley and Horn robberies are beyond obvious. And regarding compubox - of course, it doesn't tell all of the story. Obviously you have to factor in who has controlled the fight, landed the harder shots, done more damage, even knockdowns. But in a sport where most wins are down to landing more punches than your opponent, I'd say it generally tells enough of the story.
I've followed Horn since the Olympics. The start of his pro career was promising and he was beating decent guys convincingly, but after around 10 fights I realised he wasn't improving any more. That goofy hands down jerky jerky style I thought needed some serious refining courtesy of relocating to the US. But it turns out that this weird style is a deliberate training outcome. I couldn't believe it. That's fine against bums and washed up midgets, but not against class boxers, as he'll find out. Watch his last fight against Corcoran, he struggles to do anything against this bum. Also, his head trainer is a karate guy.
didn't you get the memo from fightbeat distinguished experts? There's no corruption in boxing, only incompetence.
I've crossed the Sahara desert by canoe and climbed K2 in a wheelbarrow, but never have so heard such impertinance.
Wasn't it Roach who was against the idea of Pacquiao facing Crawford? Now that he's without Roach, maybe he will face Crawford if he gets by Mathysse.
I thought our Anna gave him the keys to Brisbane? She should give him some of her shares in Woolworths at least?, ...... I wont have it.
