Honestly some people just don't care what car they drive, it's just something to get from a to b.

There are some people in the next road to me that live in a house worth at least 2 million dollars (about £1.5 mil) and guess what car they drive? A 25 year old hatchback worth about, well, 500 dollars maybe?

Again, some people just aren't into cars. If it works and lets them drive to a supermarket to transport some shopping, that's good enough.

The thing is that a 86 camry is unsafe, potetially unreliable and probably cost you a ton in fuel consumption, compared to a modern car. Im not much of a car person myself, but a millionaire driving around with this pos of a car is as worst as mr scrooge

 

Don't get me wrong, I don't like stingy scrooge like people either. There is something weird about someone who has proper money but just doesn't spend any of it, I mean, what's the point?

But then again I'm not really an advocate of overpriced, flashy cars either, or just general ostentatiousness for the sake of it - so I can see both sides I guess ;)

Why is the Camry unsafe and unreliable btw? Just because it's an 80's car? Toyota's seem pretty good and reliable, like most Jap cars.

 

Yeah, the security mechanisms on an old car like this are archaic. And no matter how reliable a car is, when its 30 yo, it will needs a lot of repair or it will always break.
