I thought Mikey looked soft and flabby in there. Even though he had a KD, he didn’t bring his power up with him. I think he needs to go back down and eventually meet up with Loma.
Porter did look horrible in his last fight, as pointed out earlier. Not that he was ever good, but he appears to be regressing. Anybody else agree?
At 147, Mikey would beat Horn, who's a terrible fighter, and he'd likely beat Matty Ice, as Matthysse is close to shot. He loses to Porter, and Garcia. He loses to Thurman by a lot. He gets beaten up and probably stopped by Crawford. He gets destroyed by Spence. The guy is a lightweight. Not a BIG lightweight like Mosley who can easily carry 147. He's just an averaged sized lightweight, and a smallish junior welter.
I'd say average size lightweight at best, more like a natural 130 pounder. Duran was significantly bigger and stronger at 135, would have mauled him. And that was before this stupid extreme weight cutting era. This. He looked like he simply doesn't belong at 140. We've seen Pacquiao and Floyd moving up the weights effortlessly, so it's easy to forget that's not the norm, they were truly exceptional in their ability to do that. I think Chenko would beat him comfortably at any weight btw.
REED Gets Why Fans May Not Like WATCHING Porter, But Let’s Not Get Carried Away... Suggesting a Smaller, Shorter, Slower Footed ‘35 Pounder, Who’s Soft Bodied at ‘40, Would KO Porter at ‘47, is Not Only Comical, it’s a SPECIAL NEEDS Boxing Opinion...That’s How Retarded it Is... Mikey’s Now Had 2 Fights at ‘40 Without Coming Close to Registering a KO...You Wanna Say He Could OUTBOX Porter, Cool. REED Doubts Mikey Could Do So Successfully for 12 Full Rounds, But Whatever... But There’s Literally NATHAN Suggesting Mikey KO’s Porter... NATHAN... REED
I think he'd clown him tbh, I don't think it would even be difficult. Loma will only struggle when he comes up against a furious pressure fighter, Duran incarnate, or someone faster than him with great reactions.
Porter is not a top fighter at all, but he's physically strong, active, and has a dependable chin. That's enough to beat tiny Mikey.
Agreed, it's absurd. I mean let's face it, no one actually likes Porter and his scrubby style, but he had close fights with both Brook and Thurman - two world class welterweights. The chances of him getting KO'd by a flabby featherweight who looks like he has no business at 140 let alone 147 are slim to none, and slim just left town. I haven't seen Shawn's most recent fight but damn, he'd hafta be proper shot to lose to 147 Mikey.
Yeah, he'd just maul him. Like even the smaller, inexperienced Limpnuts managed to do for a few rounds.
Damn is porter underrated. The guy gave hell and lost very closely to 2 of the best ww, yet people act like hes a total scrub
porter is a bum. i base my opinion on what i have seen with my own eyes. i saw him twice live and was not impressed. he lost both times. garcia is a much sharper fighter and would catch him repeatedly
I don't think Mikey would KO Porter at all. And it's obviously all based on how Mikey would adjust to 147. But I think he's be able to land a lot of counters against the wide open sloppy style of Porter. That said, make no mistake, he'd have zero chance against Spence and Crawford. Thurman would beat him too.
I don't think it's crazy to suggest Mikey beats him by decision either. I'd pick Porter just based on size, but I wouldn't totally discount Mikey outboxing him. I just think it's very far fetched to pick Mikey by stoppage. I do discount Mikey's chances against Spence and Crawford. The thing is, Mikey is a better fighter than Porter, Thurman, and Danny, just too small. But in the case of Spence and Crawford, not only are they too big, I think they're better fighters than Mikey period.
i never claimed to know his ability more than anyone. in fact, i dont think he has much ability but yes, watching him vs a completely shot julio diaz then vs brook its hard for me to be impressed by him. limpnuts may have less professional boxing experience but he is far more skilled and crafty than porter.
Brook was arguably the most dangerous puncher at 147. He did hurt Porter, but he couldn't SERIOUSLY hurt him. I can't for the life of me see Mikey stopping Porter. I agree that Lipinets is more skilled than Porter, but this is about size and physicality.
Lol Is this a parody site or is the writer retarded? Mikey Garcia rules out Lomachenko fight » Boxing News
I looked around a bit and it seems like the "writers" aren't real, just using pen names. Unsure if they're actually retarded or posting what they think is controversial in hopes of generating traffic.
