Not Saying he WILL Beat Lomachenko, But Mikey Garcia is MORE Than Capable of Upsetting the Apple-Cart... That’s a 50-50 Fight in REED’s Opinion, and if it Wasn’t Top Rank Wouldn’t COCK BLOCK as Much as They Have, Preventing the Matchup from Happening... REED
it just doesnt make any sense financially for arum to make it happen. with a guy who left him. no chance
Mikey’s NOT Going Anywhere Though... And He’s Lomachenko’s ONLY Realistic PPV Option for the Next Year or More... REED
It's a shitty selling ppv and would be a tactical fight Arum would have to deal with a guy who left his old ass and overpay him to make it happen. On top of that he'd have to overpay his own guy On top of that I'm skeptical whether garcia ever fights again at 135
Considering we don't even know how he looks at 135, let alone 140, I'd say there's a real possibility that Prograis would be too strong for him.
I don’t think Mikey stands a realistic chance at all. Lomachenko’s speed and workrate and angles would overwhelm him, wouldn’t even be close actually. It would be someone with the speed and power and size to negate everything Lomachenko brings to the table - the level of skill, talent, craft that he has. I don’t think Prograis would do it, but I do think he has a better chance of physically overwhelming Lomachenko.
Mikey’s Bigger Than Lomachenko, has Great TIMING and More Than Enough Pop to Stop Any ‘35 Pounder.... REED
Who Can Loma Realistically Fight in the Next Year or So That WOULDNT Make for a Shitty Selling PPV???... Best Thing Mikey Can Do in the Interim is Unify with Easter Jr...That’d Be a Good Move in the Subliminal Game of Chess Being Played w/Top Rank... Make No Mistake, Arum ONLY Makes Lomachenko Look Bad, at the End of the Day, if the Garcia Fight Never Happens... Mikey was Pretty Clear About Moving Back Down to ‘35, in his Most Recent Post-Fight Press Conference... REED
I think Loma would beat Mikey, but it's crazy talk to say that Mikey doesn't have a realistic chance.
He's not significantly bigger at all imo. He is only 5'6, an inch shorter than Chenko, has a tiny frame and seems completely undersized at 140 just like Lomachenko would. Lomachenko would work him, it would be a whitewash.
I honestly don't think he does, not a realistic chance. And this is coming from someone who really rated him at the lower weights. Stylewise I don't see him posing a threat, Lomachenko would be a step ahead of him all the way.
why does lomachenko need to fight on pay per view at all within a year? the garcia fight would have to be PPV simply to accommodate both fighters financial demands. but in the end the promoter would take a bath. garcia may have said that, but he just chose to keep his 140lb title and give up the ligthweight title.
I give Mikey a legit chance due to his jab, underrated footwork, and yes, power below 140 lbs. I'd still pick Loma to win via UD. Mostly due to the combination of hand speed, footwork/angles, and defense. But Loma would get his chin checked in that fight at some point. He's definitely not gonna shut out Mikey or go 12 rounds without getting hit with something. How he holds up, would determine the outcome in all likelihood. Loma via UD after making adjustments to Mikey's style.
I actually don't have a bad word to say about Mikey. He's damn good - a solid, skilled, world class fighter. But Lomachenko is more of a once in a generation type of fighter, and imo the clear P4P #1. As if his amateur career wasn't proof enough, what he's done as a pro in 11 fights is phenomenal and unprecedented. I mean, he absolutely dominated good world class fighters like little Gary and Walters in only his THIRD and seventh pro fight ffs. That's unreal. And now he's just made 4 fighters in a row quit because of the complete and utter domination he bestowed upon them. Including Rigondeaux, who many hardcore boxing fans had sort of pegged as the real P4P #1 etc. And he had nothing for Lomachenko, nothing at all. Yet Lomachenko is going to lose to someone like Garcia? LOL, not a fucking chance. He'll dominate.
Gary Russell, Walters, and Rigo can't punch like Mikey, and aint as big as Mikey. Loma doesn't lose rounds, but then again, neither does Mikey. My pick would be Loma by decision. But Mikey would be very live.
Enough to really matter though? I certainly don't think so. They're a similar size, both natural 130 pounders. That's clear enough from how undersized Mikey looks at 140. It's not like it would be Spence hitting Loma, I just don't think Mikey is anywhere NEAR big and powerful enough for it to be a factor. It's not like Lomachenko has shown any vulnerability at all in the chin department either. And Mikey does lose rounds. He lost a few to both Broner and Limpnuts. Lomachenko would probably win like 11-1.
Mikey Garcia is a live underdog against Lomachenko. He doesn't look as spectacular as Loma does but he has solid fundamentals and is bigger and hits hard.
What Fighter w/Mikey’s Level of Pop (‘35 and Lower) Has Chin Checked Lomachenko???... 11-1 is COMICALLY Absurd Bro...SERIOUSLY???!!!... Lomachenko’s More DYNAMIC Than Mikey, But That Has Little Bearing On 2 Men Punching Each Other in the Face for 12 Rounds... REED
Mikey IS Bigger Though... REED Can’t See a Smaller Guy, ANY Smaller Guy “Working” Mikey Garcia...In Today’s Boxing Climate it’d Take an Elite ‘47 Pounder to “Work” Mikey or 11-1 Him... Dude is Waaaaaaay Toooooo Skilled and Technically Sound to Get Done Like That By a Smaller Current Fighter, Even Lomachenko... REED
Not Saying he WILL Beat Loma, But 11-1 Couldnt Be More DISRESPECTFUL to Mikey’s Skill and Talent Level... And Again, if Top Rank was as Sure as Some of Ya’ll Seem to Be, Loma Would Be Facing Mikey Next Instead of Linares, Then Beltran... REED
Yeah, people are underestimating Garcia big time. He may not be flashy or particularly quick but he has great balance and positioning and a keen mind. He picks his punches well and doesn't waste energy. Yes, I too would make Lomachenko the favourite but an upset wouldn't be a big surprise. He's an old school professional reminiscent at times of the GREAT Juan Manuel Marquez
