Disrespectful? Like thinking Lomachenko would absolutely dominate a fellow P4Per in Gondo and make him quit? Garcia is a good fighter, Lomachenko is a special fighter. Relative scrubs like Broner and Limpnuts won a few rounds against Garcia, meanwhile Chenko is cleaning house with guys as good as Gondo, and you think it's inconceivable that Lomachenko wins 11-1? I certainly don't, I expect a domination.
Garcia is absolute quality, I didn't rate the guy at first but over time I've come to really rate him highly. Lomachenko is a special talent though and I'm with Mex on this, if it does happen I think Loma wins surprisingly easily. The size difference is nowhere near as pronounced as people think it is, but the skill difference is.
If I'm honest, as much as I've come to appreciate Mikey's talent and skillset over recent years, I've always seen it the same way as Mex. I think Loma wins surprisingly easy, that's not a knock on Mikey, I just think Loma is that good.
My boy Slicey knows the score. I really hope this fight happens soon enough. And btw, look at Mikey dwarfing Chenko here. Mikey is HUGE!!! The truth is Mikey won't have any kind of significant size advantage, at all. He looks like a flabby little featherweight at 140, just like Lomachenko would.
I love that Loma basically called Mikey slow straight up to him in their first face-to-face meeting when Garcia was being all respectful. He knows the score. He wasn't intimidated in the slightest. If it doesn't happen it is because of all the promotional bollocks, no fault lies with either guy, they both clearly want the fight.
Yeah it cracked me up, because he did it in a fairly friendly, cordial manner like "Oh, I thought you looked pretty slow and shit btw" :)
Yes, Disrespectful... Not 1nce Did You Reference Rigondeaux Moving Up Not 1, But 2 Fucking Weight Classes for that Bout... Loma Himself DOWNPLAYED the Win Based On Size, Yet You’re SERIOUSLY Using the Rigondeaux Bout to Handicap Mikey vs Loma?... REED
Nah, Lomachenko’s Clear Advantage is ATHLETICALLY... Mikey’s Right There w/Anybody Else, Skillfully... REED
Make No Mistake, if Loma WANTS a Career Defining Fight, Which Mikey Garcia CLEARLY Is, He’ll Make Top Rank MAKE the Fight... REED
Or how about disrespectful like predicting Roy would win 11-1 over fellow elite fighter Toney? Sometimes a very good fighter fights a special fighter and gets dominated. That's what will happen when Mikey fights Lomachenko.
Lomachenko has a small frame and narrow shoulders, makes him look pretty small in clothes. Their height and thickness is very similar, Mikey just has slightly broader shoulders. In the ring I reckon they'll look the same size, and probably walk around at a very similar weight. There's certainly not a significant size difference either way.
How much heavier are we talking? What do they both walk at? Even looking at that video of them together, they look basically the same size.
People are giving too much importance to these little weight difference. We are not talking loma-rigo or crawford-gamboa here. Size wont be a factor
Yeah they seem similar in size...Garcia’s head is twice as big though . If I were training a guy to face Lomachenko I’d have the following tactics: Move around a lot and throw light flicking punches, just to touch him and then every now and then freak the fuck out: physically throw him to the ropes rough him up with forearms and elbows (try to do it so the red doesn’t see it) and throw bombs to the body and head....then calm down again and throw flicking punches while moving. That type of random unpredictable fighting (with some illegal stuff in there) is the only way to beat this cat, unless you’re a MASTER tactician.
Who PREDICTED Roy Would Dominate Toney Though???... Nobody Did, Because PREDICTING Such Would’ve Been Disrespectful to Toney’s Talents... REED
Garcia may be underrated at this point. He has an impressive ability to set up and land huge shots. Everyone is entitles to their opinion, but let's not forget - they have a common opponent. Obviously, it does not tell the whole story. But nothing else people point to does either. So we may as well mention it: Garcia slaughtered Salido whereas Lomachenko lost to him.
Loma fand are dismissing the salido fight too easily imo. Im still not sure if he would be able to handle an inside, dirty workhorse like salido was. Fortunately for him, nobody good at 135 seems to fit the bill
I think Mikey is being really underrated here based on his last fight with a good, game opponent. People need to stop thinking that these top fighters are always going to blow out their opponents at the top level.
Right... Even Sugar Ray Robinson Wasn't "SUGAR RAY ROBINSON" in Every Single Outing...Ditto for PRIME Versions of Ali, Duran, Roy, Ray Leonard or Any Other All Time Great... REED
I think even some of us hardcore fans tend to overlook a guy because he doesn't DAZZLE us. Compared to Loma, Mikey obviously doesn't have the eye catching moves or razzle dazzle to the public eye. We tend to think that because he's not as fast as Loma, that he isn't that fast, or because he doesn't have the flashy feet of Loma, that his footwork isn't impressive. But Mikey is actually pretty fast. And his timing, and accuracy/precision actually make the speed sort of even. Another thing that is often overlooked is a fighter's ring IQ. Sometimes we tend to over simplify what a guy does if he isn't as defensively apt as Mayweather or as offensively flashy as Pacquiao. Understanding your style of fighting and mastering it, is ring IQ. Add to that, Mikey's punching power, and Loma has a difficult package to deal with. I pick Loma to win it, but I'd be shocked if he has an easy time in there.
The going was getting rough for garcia and his big brother opted him out of the rest of the salido fight
It was his second pro fight and he didn't look anywhere NEAR as comfortable and sure of himself as he does now. If they rematched today Lomachenko would vanquish him with ease.
Well, if they predicted it they'd be right. It wouldn't be disrespectful of Toney's talents in the slightest. He was still an elite fighter before and after. Sometimes elite fighters dominate other elite fighters, just like Pacquiao, Floyd and Roy have done over the years. Nothing disrespectful about it. Disrespectful would be calling Garcia a scrub and saying he doesn't even deserve to fight Lomachenko. I acknowledge Mikey is an elite fighter, I simply think Lomachenko is much better, and I also don't think Mikey's solid, patient style matches up well with Chenko AT ALL. Lomachenko by domination.
Even though performance against common opponents isn't the be all and end all of analysis this is still a valid point and shouldn't be forgotten. At the very least it demonstrates where the power advantage is...and Garcia did this BEFORE Salido fought Lomachenko which is important.
