Controversial opinion but... I find Candyman to be the far better/creepier movie of the two.

Candyman is actually an excellent horror flick... one of the best of the 90s.

Candyman is well above average in the slasher film sub-genre.

A Nightmare On Elm Street and it's not even close...one of the best slasher movies ever. As the series went along Freddy Krueger became a comedian...but in that first one he was still EVIL...

Same thing with Chucky. The first Child's Play is the only one where he was serious and evil.

For the rest of the franchise, he cracked jokes more than he killed. Even moreso than Freddy.

Wasn’t Candyman a bunch of straight to video flicks? Also I never actually watched any of them whereas I watched all of the Elm st flicks. So yeah, NoES wins in a landslide.

First Candyman has a sweet spot for me. I saw it with my wife (then girlfriend) in a nearly empty theater on Halloween night, and it spooked us the hell out. For the next month we would randomly just say "Candyman" at each other, 4 times.............but never the 5th, just to fuck around with each other.

Unfortunately every Candyman sequel was really, really bad, and I've enjoyed several of the Nightmare On Elm Street movies.................even some of the ones that are considered the trashiest (#3 "Dream Warriors" might be my favorite). They might not be scary, but they are usually pretty fun.

Nightmare. The original one I thought was really good and inventive. Candy man was good too but not as ground-breaking in my opinion.

The Dream Warriors was the best one.

Damn, that might be how I got her pregnant to begin with.

"Candyman" why did you tease me with your promises of sugar wall confections, while at the same time expressing a Willie Wonka like hatred for children?
