The Shining is a comedy from the start ... Nicholson is absolutely terrible in it and Shelley Duvall's character is so stupidly oblivious, so hysterically fucking INEPT that it completely eclipses acceptability. It's a ridiculous film that looks gorgeous.

 

Rosemary's Baby was scary... Psycho was scary ... The Omen was scary

 

The Omen is not scary. Certainly not as scary as The Shining.

I'm with Mcdogg here: The Shinning is extremely overrated simply because Stanley Kubrick directed it. The film is not one bit scary and doesn't deliver the goods. I have mentioned this many times here too.

 

He's a far better actor so yeah it would definitely be better
