I have seen them on a few late night shows and they've always been good. I heard one of their LPs on a plane and it sounded good. I haven't given them a fair shake besides that. They remind me of another band that I've seen on late night shows. I may be mistaken but I think they're called "The National." If not them, then another band. I watch Conan and now that he's not on a big network (he's on TBS) they get a lot of indie and smaller label bands on the show and that's a plus. I also watch Fallon and Seth occasionally.
National is really good too. What's interesting about War on Drugs is their obvious Dylan (80s)/Springstein/Dire Straits influence. I don't see a lot of new bands like that. I agree late shows are great for seeing new bands. And Conan in particular tends to feature smaller name bands you don't normally see. I remember Letterman used to have good bands on too. I remember the first time I heard of Wilco was on Letterman if I recall correctly (probab ly in the late 90's).
Loo Yeah thats whst I thought. How much of anything he did in that decade was remotely good? Infidels? Shot Of Love? ool Saved?
Hell you're reaching into late 70s there ... the guy emptied both barrels with "Blood On The Tracks" 43 years ago and has accomplished fuck-all since It'd be like "hey check this new band out, they sound like Steel Wheels era Stones!"
He won a grammy for Oh Mercy (89) and his 1997 album time out of mind won many awards. I fully admit some of his 80's work was crappy. But there were gems and outtakes that were great. My guess is you have not listened to any of the guy's later work, which is fine. But what does that say about your insistence that it is all crap?
Fucking Grammys ... Jesus Christ, you need to get your fucking head twisted on straight, you fucking philistine ... one other thing you'll learn about me is that I don't comment on any music I haven't heard ... I know every Dylan record ever made in detail
Whenever I hear or see the word ´Grammy´s - I always think: ´Congratulations, Carlos Santana for wrecking anything you did of credibility in the 1970s´ What a cunt.
exactly Santana won 50 fucking trophies for noodling the same 4 or 5 tired licks over the likes of such audio dross as Robb Thomas
Cue, DoubleLemon to start going on about ´objectivity´ and ´if it sounds good to my ears´ and ´if everyone liked the same music´, blah-blah-blah.
Guus habe Sounds Dutch The guy that thinks 80s Dylan and the Grammys are where it's at accusing people of having cheesy taste ... that's fucking rich
Inifdels has awesome word-crunching dream songs. Jokerman? Fucking awesome. Guy has a lot of fucking nerve writing such a free wheeling song.
Who or What? Ronald Regan? Dylan himself? Or something vaguely leftover from his religious phase? Jesus Christ?
