I seem to remember Duran beating a far far better fighter than Loma. Perhaps you've heard of him... Sugar Ray fucking Leonard! The Loma nutlicking on this forum has become comical.
Esteban DeJesus at his best gives Loma a terrible time. He might not even win that one. No way he beats Duran.
Leonard´s one of my alltime favourite fighters, so yeah, Ive heard of him. But no, I´ve never bought into the ´Fighter X beat Fighter Y so he must also be able to beat Fighter Z´ theory. But, this is a Mythical Matchup so we should therefore accept certain other conditions too, such as, ´this fight would also involved a referee who´d jump all over Durán´s overly rough-house mauling style and make him box´
And yeah, the adulation has become excesive but he´s still light-years ahead of any other boxer in any other weight-division. e.g. Errol Spence - I don´t see anything special or exciting about him whatsoever. So, the exposure is warranted, imo.
In terms of pure skill and technical ability there are very few who can match Lomachenko, and that's even if you look well into the past. With that said Duran not only had an immense skill level, but he was a beast who could maul, brawl and had two fisted power. What we've seen of Loma so far is a guy who can stand in the pocket, throw rapid fire punches and turn his opponent. I don't think that approach would work very well against a guy like Duran.
