    Claims a hand injury apparently.

This will postpone a meeting with Spence till about 2024.

In Hindsight, it Would’ve Been BETTER for Boxing if Danny Won the Unification with Thurman...

Why? Danny wouldn't have fought Spence either.

Kell Brook was the only top welter who had balls it seems.

    Lol!!!

But in all seriousness, it seems Thurman is a little weak, mentally. I don't think he has the heart to be a champion. This is unbecoming of a professional fighter.

He could be... or... he could just not be seriously training. Probably the later... it's possible he's just content with the Garcia and Porter wins and has lost his desire.

Why would he lie about this.??? He said he was fighting a palooka. There's nothing for him to gain by postponing that fight

Thurman seems to have lost the edge. Even when he talks nowadays, he doesn't seem to have that same confidence he used to have (Don't duck me, son!). He talks like someone who's running for office now.

Convenient how prior to his elbow surgery, he was willing to fight Pacquiao in November, but when Manny was robbed and Spence beat Brook, all of a sudden he's in surgery for bone spurs... I don't buy it. He was willing to fight Pac but when it became clear that wasn't available, then he has bone spurs? Nah. I don't believe him.

Thurman has become the new Amir Khan.

I dont think someone goes through surgery only to duck another fighter. That would be rather extreme

Thurman really needs the Spence fight now. If he wants to be respected more highly, he needs to get that shit signed and delivered.

Too bad thurman doesn't have some minor injury like a fractured eye socket. He would have already whupped spence and craword by now

Dosent seem like he cares about respect anymore. The way he's come across post-Garcia is like he's content with Cherry being his career defining fight.

I like Thurman. I think he’s just honest and realistic about how boxing works. You get status and notoriety by winning intriguing fights, you cash in on your status by beating up guys you expect to beat, and then you renew your meal ticket with another intriguing fight. He fought Porter and Garcia when they were the guys that he needed to re-up and he doesn’t seem interested in a bunch of bullshit for the internet.

Yeah, I like Thurman too. Spence is awesome but part of me really wants Thurman to win that fight.

yeah, but don,t tell this too loud. The narrative here is that Thurman is a coward and a ducker, and no amount of facts will change that

All of Thurman, Garcia, and Porter are blatantly avoiding Spence.

In Thurman's case, he's even avoiding Jessie Vargas.

No one called Thurman a coward. Stop making shit up.

But there is a lot of validity to the idea of him avoiding Spence. It's nothing new, he's been avoiding him for several years now.

Do I think he shits his pants at the mere thought of Spence? No.

Do I think he views Spence as a fight that he very well might lose and wants to put it off as long as possible? Yes.

Do I think the hand injury is bs and that he postponed his comeback because he hasn't been in the gym? I think it's very possible.

Spence had been an internet favorite for a while now but Porter and Garcia were more known, viable, deserving opponents. Spence is the #1 contender but he’s not that overdue.

Exactly. It's idiotic to claim that Thurman has been ducking Spence, since he didn't even fought since Spence actually became a name.

Will he eventually duck him??? I wouldn't be that surprised, but i'll wait till he acts reprehensibly before I start criticizing him

As I said earlier, I never believed Thurman's "injury" claims. I'm still suspicious to this day about the whole elbow ordeal.

And even if I give him the benefit of the doubt, it doesn't take no damn year and some change to recover from bone spurs. That's just absolutely ridiculous. Keep in mind that before Spence got the victory over Brook, Thurman was talking about wanting to fight Pacquiao last November before Pac was robbed against Horn. Thurman was very keen on that fight.

Then after Pac was robbed, and the option to face Spence that November was there, he announces his surgery for bone spurs and that he would be "out for the whole year" and yet he was still willing to face Pac before all that. Just too convenient for me.

And again, it ain't just Thurman. Garcia and Porter are also clearly unwilling to face Spence. It's just straight up TRANSPARENT that Thurman and the rest want nothing to do with Spence and are holding out for facing one another instead.

Kell Brook came back from a damn fractured eye socket after facing Golovkin and came back to face Spence and yet Thurman can't fight anyone because of bone spurs in his right elbow, and now claiming a hand injury...

    I don't buy it.
