Smokin' Joe would hospitalise the boy. It is ridiculous that on a board as knowlegeable as this, some would suggest otherwise.

The difference is that Lewis was a fucking great fighter. AJ isn't. Could you imagine what Lennox would do to this kid?

I still think Povetkin is the 2nd best HW in the world. I'd give him at least a 30% shot of beating AJ.

From what I read this fight was fought at exactly a Hagler Hearns pace.

If Hagler and Hearns fought today.

Perhaps my prognosticating skills are shot. Father Time catches up with the best of us from time to time. I better quit now before I go out like RJJ. Lol

You know what.........Price went in and had a fucking go. He still almost put Povetkin on his arse. Joshua played it safe all night threw very little and still looked gassed.

    He's a fucking machine. A hype machine.

The styles issue cannot be overlooked. Joshua is actually better suited to fighting the bigger less-mobile men.

He doesn't have the fluidity or confidence to happily windmill after smaller, more compact and evasive dudes.

Joe Walcott would have an easier night with Joshua than would say Larry Holmes.

Walcott would get close, slip that wide shit, and uncork the same left hook he put Charles away with.

Hard to imagine an EASIER time with Joshua than Holmes.

Prime Holmes would beat the fucking shit outta AJ and do so easily.

It wasn't AJ's best performance to date but he got the job done in a workmanlike manner. You can't always look a million dollars.

If the ref had taken a backwards step and allowed both guys to fight in close, we would seen a better fight and more from both guys and possibly a highlight reel KO.

I agree with your point on the referee. Joshua's best work comes in the maul, AJ would have preferred a close-quarters battle as he can try and land the uppercut.

Indeed. It can only be rivalled by Hagler vs Hearns.

Price should have won. If he had hit the defenseless Povetkin, like Povetkin did him in the 5th, he'd have very likely sparked him out.

Yeah but he would do it after a jabbing war.

Walcott would do it without a jab.

That's the picture I was trying to create.

His best work comes from being stronger. He grapples., then breaks off the grapple and throws a sneaky uppercut when the ref wants to separate them.

By the way....regardless of how AJ looked in this fight, he beats Frazier. Parker is 6’3, 230lbs with a granite chin.....even then from all accounts AJ won mainly because of size strength difference. Frazier was 5’11, 205lb with a 73” reach and a mediocre chin compared with Joshua at 6’7”, 240lb with a 83” reach and a very hard punch. It’s a physical mismatch. Frazier would be dwarfed. Joe won’t even land the left hook. Joshua would bully him around the ring and fuck him up.

If Marciano is deemed as too small to deal with a norton or Frazier then Frazier is even less likely to have a chance against the Behemoth that is Joshua.

AJ and Parker wouldn't be able to hang with Frazier. Joe is simply the better fighter.

He'd wear them both down over the course of a long fight.

Too much nostalgia. Frazier was more exciting...but he's just way too small and vulnerable. He'd probably beat Parker because Parker isn't a huge banger but not AJ. Frazier wouldn't be able to handle AJs strength and power.

In watching the fight now, only in round 3, I think Joshua's performance has been "mis-characterized". From what I'm seeing the fight lacks excitement and drama because of Parker, not because of Joshua. Parker is back pedaling and being negative, flicking the jab..not even trying to land and not really looking to engage. Safety first...feinting and not doing shit. It's hard to look exciting or good against a guy who is fighting like that. Joshua is controlling the ring and the distance. Early doors so far though....

It was definitely a TERRIBLE Ref. The fight finally broke out at the start of the 6th and the ref inexplicably breaks them up and issues warnings. Where do they find these useless cunts?

After watching the entire fight is was certainly a bore. Parker’s negativity (which is the opposite of his usual style ) was mainly to blame for this but the referee was equally responsible. Joshua was fighting in a workmanlike positive way from what I saw and I don’t blame him for it. Personally and most will disagree, I think Joshua has proven himself after beating whyte, klitschko and now Parker. He’s definitely the best heavyweight in the world. I saw nothing in that fight that suggests wilder beats him. I mean a crazy KO punch is always a possibility but I think Joshua can avoid that punch with his style of fighting and get wilder outta there before Deontay has the opportunity to get to him first. Parker has a stronger chin thatn wilder has and parker fought in a way to survive
