Moorer's vulnerability is well known but his advantage in craft over Joshua and every guy Joshua has fought is staggering... these guys aren't boxers, they're either crossfit participants taught to load up and "explode" and to react to every feint by an opponent as if a grenade were tossed in front of them or they are guileless fatsos

Tony Tubbs would be Pernell Whitaker against a field like this

Thing with Moore is that his chin is absolute crap. I could see him totally outboxing AJ for 6 rounds and then get flattened. AJ is far from a prime Tyson or Lewis, but it doesn't take a prime version of those guys to KO Moore.

People seem to forget that old fat foreman knocked out a prime moorer. How well do you think old slow fat foreman would have done against Parker?

And also Fearsome Francois Botha and Vicious Vaughn Bean, albeit barely

 

And Parker has beaten who exactly? Parker hasn't shown himself to be any better at boxing than any of these names your tossing out

Evander said he was injured for that fight but went through with it anyway. It was obvious that Evander wasn't right that night and even with that knocked moorer down and it was close. In the rematch, when Evander was healthy, he bounced Moorer up and down off the canvas like a basketball. Moorer, at Heavyweight, was chinny SHIT!

 

The rematch which occurred years after Moorer had suffered a shocking humiliating KO loss

Holyfield's "injury" was what exactly? A fictional heart ailment?

Anybody seriously trying to argue that Moorer isn't far better than Parker needs a new set of eyeballs

BTW, Moorer twice stopped Swindell, not sure where this "outpointing" business came from

 

The problem is, in boxing it doesn't matter how much 'better' you are if you can't take any kind of punch, nor have much power for a heavyweight.

Nobody is saying Parker is anything special (he isn't), just that there is a limit for the criticism you deserve for beating him on decision.

Also, Moorer's reputation as a heavyweight is based solely on the Holy fight, and you know better than I do that single results can be very misleading (because of styles, conditions etc)

Forget Moorer's reputation, he actually accomplished something useful and had some skills and talent

Parker was the #3 ranked heavyweight (the Ring), which he achieved by defeating some unbeaten fellow contenders.

Yeah'a'now, poor era, ugly people etc. But apart from eye-test, there isn't much proof that he couldn't be difficult guy to beat

 

What is this, debating with Sly?

Make a case the guy is better than Mike Moorer

All I see so far is that he's got an extra 15 pounds of fat and was able to avoid being KOd by a robotic titlist while losing a wide decision... You're throwing out names like Vaughn Bean and Axel Schulz and Frans Botha... Parker went nap and tuck with Fury --- HUGHIE Fury

In fact, I only have to make a case that he is not 'far worse' than Moorer, not that he is better, I never said that.

Also, if we take a step back from that, the original point was about Joshua, and how people use the Parker fight as an evidence for Moorer having success against him.

Which brings us back to the names of Botha, Bean and Cooper. If we evaluate Moorer as a fighter, we have to consider how he did in these fights, too. Not just how much smoother he looked

AJ sure is better in MMs than he is in real life.

 

On what basis is Parker any better than those guys?

Usually, athletes "look smoother" in their sport because they are better at it unless you are suggesting Parker is some Gene Fullmer anomaly
